As many of you might know Rockstar are in getting flack again for the content of the GTA series.

I am a long term fan of the series and getting really piss of at parents buying the games for their kids then turning around and blaming Rockstar for the content.

My mother bought me the original GTA when I was thirteen or so I have played through the series for the past seven years.

When my mother looked at the content of GTA she was shocked but not too bothered because it’s just a computer games.

Hell my mate little brother is eleven and plays San Andreas, weirdly he is better than me!!

What does the rest of the gaming community think?

Do you think parents should be stricter with the content that their kids see?

    Or

Do you think Rockstart is to blame?

I think parents should be stricter.

    M MEANS FREAKIN M. NOT E.

TvMA does not mean happy games and toys. It means sex.

M doesnt mean education mario games, it means violence.

God, some parents are idiots. If only parts of the book 1984 was real. I wish they were exterminated by Big Brother. They are the proles.

It's an 18+, if your kids end up playing it and getting 'corrupted' it's your fault as the parent for buying it.
As for this whole 'hot coffee' sex unlock, what's the big deal? They didn't complain about the main unmodded game, yet that involves beating a rival gimp to death with a double-ended dildo and slaughtering hookers with a chainsaw - much worse than seeing 2 people going at it.

Neither, its lawyers that are to blame. If not for them trying to find any way to make their clients win millions of dollars by making them blame tv/radio/games/mcdonalds coffee for the bad things that happened to them rather then blaming their own stupidity things like this wouldn't even be an issue since noone would kill someone then blame a game. I've often wondered just how many parents of children that were at Columbine, but not murdered, tried to cash in on what happened by sueing game companies for their childs "emotional distress".

I know I am going to get VERY badly flamed for this, but for some reason I always despised the GTA series. I played San Andreas, it was fun for a little while, but repetetiveness kicked in and I quickly got bored. To me GTA was like a game for people with ADD. Just my opinion. But I think the main reason why I despise it is because of the way they depict certain races of people.

I never found any GTA game repetetive, and NO, I dont have ADD. In fact Ive never found a GTA game to be boring. As long as you look for things, there will always be something to be found in those types of games.

I mean look at Vice City. That game never ended!

for gods sake, havent they got something better to do?

I mean, as ppl said, this game is about pimping, whoring, drive by shooting, chainsawing, and shooting the police for more respect.

Robberies will get you points, running ppl over will get you points, but all of this is ok . . .
    But, OH WAIT!
Some1 is having sex there ! Lets ban this game, god forbid my child might see a badly drawn sex act . . .

Ppl are idiots these days, nothing else to it.
The sex there is the only Politically correct thing in that whole game

Rockstar is to blame for the hotcoffee mod, because they should have never left the sex minigame in the game code, cause no one knew about it not even ESRB, they would have probably given it AO for that, they should have just removed it from the final version but NO now we have to have all these disussions in Congress to make game ratings stricter and games less violent and other BS, well you know what I would blame Rockstar for keeping this hidden.

You sure the reason they didn't remove it wasn't that it would have required a lot of coding to remove it?
Locking one out is probably much easier.
Second of all, ahve you seen it? R-movies are 10x worse and are for 17+, just liek M.

Yeah rated R movies mean no one 17 and under can watch and rated M games are 17 and older can buy. So for movies its 18 which is a huge difference because when your 18, you can even go in strip clubs. I know that the content isn't that bad it just shows some breasts, but again games are targeted mre towards younger kids unlike rated R movies, and they didnt say that this was in the code which you can't with a rating system.

whats the chance that someone could have modded something like that anyway for the game?

someone is bound to find code and think *wow i can play with this* then who knows what they're gonna make.

im sure rockstar didnt intentionally leave the code in the game hidden i mean, they must know that people are gonna mess with the code and find stuff so im assuming they didnt find the content that bad but felt it was unnecessary to use it at the time.

No sir, I think you are confusing up things here. R-rated movies can be seen by anybody 17 years of age or older, or if the person is accompanied by a guardian of legal age.
NC-17 on the other hand means no one below is ever allowed to watch to movie or the game. You probably had those two mixed up.

    Well said!

Its the parents fault for letting their kids play it. Anyway imo its crap after I saw it once I couldnt be bothered to see it again, I would rather just mess around instead. Much more fun...

Well... im not gonna comment on parenting skills, all I will say is that the 18+ rating (as it is in the UK) is there to advise parents, and its for them to make the decision about whether they allow their children to play it. However, they cant critise a games company for excessive violence/sex/content etc after it is clearly stated on the box. Its their responsibility to ensure that what their kids do is appropriate. After all, they wouldnt by an 18 rated film and then kick up a fuss when they saw a sex scene and nudity! LOL!

Thank you to everyone who posted.

I think some people have raised some good point but in my option both Rockstar and the parents are to blame. Rockstar should have completely removed the hot coffee part. Rockstar keep pushing their luck with what they can get away and one day they will pay the price. There will be stricter laws and this will spoil not just the GTA series but others games as well.

Parents should take more care in what their kid play.

As for the hot coffee part of the game IT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE on any other platform than pc. And this is the problem, Rockstar should know by now that GTA on the pc gets hacked to bit and moded and they should have removed the hot coffee code.

gamespot did a cheat code test of the ps2 version and was able to get the same results.
