hello, i am currently over hauling my pc, and buying all new equipment.

    My new pc will have:
    2gb DDR400 Kingston
    Athlon 64 4200+ (2kmhz FSB + Dual Core :) )
Asus A8N SLI Motherboard With nForce 4 SLI Chipset
400 GB Seagate 7.2k RPM on SATA
Water Cooling for Video Card And Processor
New Mid ATX Tower With 500 Watt PS
    Logitech Z5500 5.1 1000 Watt Speakers System
Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 ZS Gamer PCI Sound Card

And i am Currently In a Jam. I Have Just Enough to Buy a BFG 7800 GTX OC or use my motherboards SLI feature and buy Dual XFX 6600 GT.

I am considered a Hard Core Gamer by my friends, and i want the most out of my pc. I Think i should go with the Dual 6600's, but im not entirely sure,

I would go with the dual 6600gts and both of them will be at least $100 less than a 7800gtx. Yes 7800gtx is awesome but not for the price.

I'd go for the 7800 GTX even though it costs more, it performs better than a 6600GT SLi and you can upgrade later by buying a second 7800 GTX when the price drops or you need more performance.

I own the 7800 gtx and it is an amazing upgrade, even when i had a 6800 ultra. I have not seen how dual 6600 gts are, but in speaking from my 6800 u to 7800 gtx upgrade, how it handles high res and aa is just amazing and worth the cash as far as i am concerned.

Defineatly 2 6600gts can handle anything thrown at them. Why pay the extra money for the 7800gtx when you can get as good or better performance with the 6600gts for less money.

    as jjloke sez

    and 2 6600gts can't do Transparent AA

the 7800GTX is the ONLY choice here

Wait awhile untill the 7800Ultra comes out.
All 7800GTX owners will regret buying that card.

The 7800 GTX if youre really a hardcore hamer.
    It defeats the 6600GT SLI.
and soon, it will be 7800 GTX SLI.

Not 6600GT haters but the 7800 can be upgraded to SLI.
And the 7800 gtx has more pipelines and some new features than 2x6600gt.

A 6800GT out performs 2 6600GTs...so no 6600GT SLI is not even close to equal performance as 7800GTX.

If I had the money... I'd go for the 7800gtx. It will last you for years (2 or more?).

The 6600gt's are fine but if you are planning on hard gaming... you know what to do! ;)

Yeah if you want to spend $1000 on 2 video cards with not that much more performance improvements than 2 6600gts for about $700 less. Don't get me wrong the 7800 is a great card just not for the money imo.

thx for all the fead back, i guess im gonna buy the 7800 gtx.

one more question though, if any one could answer this, why does the 6600 have a 500mhz core clock, while the new 7800's olny have around a 450mhz core clock?

What????? You gotta be kidding me. There is no way 1 6800gt can touch 2 6600gts in SLI. ROLFLMAO

depends on the person using it really

and hellsan the 7800GTX has multiple clock speeds

you'll find that when you load up a game with it the speed will jump 40mhz

and its really overclockable as well, just remember to add the +40mhz delta clock to your overclock
