Ok in your first screenshot post you said you were using 8xAA and 16xAF. Did you mean 6xAA (NVIDIA doesn't support it in the Source engine), 4x, or 8xS through the NVIDIA CP?

In your last screenshot, both AA and AF are definitely working, but I think in your first one, AF wasn't working correctly.

    Tarkan.

I meant 6AA and 16AF I set ingame, but in NVControlPanel I Forced 16AF and AA = 8xS. I have noticed in certain areas that you are facing your FPS takes a hit when using full effect settings

Ok. The first picture you sent me wasn't antialiased. NVIDIA can't do 6xAA in the Source engine, the highest you can use is 4x unless you force it through the driver properties.

Yes, in my screenshots the FPS takes a hit with the effects on. The difference between 8xAF and 16xAF (which is messed up, so no filtering is performed at all) is very noticeable in those screenshots.

Go into an outdoor area and use the game properties to enable 16xAF. The difference should be much more noticeable then. If you force it through the NVIDIA CP it will work so don't use that for now, see if the in-game setting works. I can't tell from your first screenshot whether it's working or not, it's too dark.

Tarkan, OK I will post 2 outside screenies 1 using my original settings ingame, but will set the NV Control Panel back to application controlled for AA and AF and 1 using ingame original settings and forced driver properties in the control panel just for comparison

The last 2 days I've been using these drivers, everything was performing great. However, when I was playing CS: S today, I had a drastic reduction in FPS, I was barely able to move in the game, as if it was a slideshow. Anyone have this problem?

darkrenegade80, HL2 doesn't support 6AA on nVidia hardware so that's why your first screenshot looks very jagged... it's actually doing 0AA instead.

Yeah, it won't do 6xAA. If you also notice in the first screenshot of that last pair he posted, the textures of the boat deck aren't even receiving bilinear filtering. The 16xAF setting in HL2 is broken on these drivers. If you force it through the NVIDIA CP it still works but if you try to set it in-game instead it won't work; only 8x and down works.

So what settings do u suggest I use and would you say its worth moving to 77.50 drivers that work well with this game?

No, don't switch back. It's a small bug that will be fixed eventually (the 16x AF setting). Use 4xAA and 8xAF through the in-game settings. If you want higher levels of filtering, you can just force it through the NVIDIA CP. You CAN get 16xAF with these drivers, it's just that it won't work if you try to set it in-game. It has to be forced.

    Tarkan,

SO are you saying I should force settings AF16 and AA8XS in NV Control Panel and In-Game AF16 and AA4? Just notices FPS went up with AA4, so is the AA8 setting just for ATI cards?

No no. If you force settings in the NVIDIA driver properties, it doesn't matter what the settings are in the game. For example, if you have 16x AF and 8xS AA set in the driver properties, but 8xAF and 4xAA set in the game, you're going to get 16xAF and 8xS AA. The NVIDIA CP overrides in-game settings.

I personally recommend you don't use 8xS AA, it's pretty expensive and some text will blur on that setting. 4x is your best bet. Between 8xAF and 16xAF, your choice. If you want 8x, set it in-game. 16x, set it in the drivers.

Weren't these the drivers that were supposed to offer a 5-30% performance boost on dual-core CPUs, as they were multi-threaded?

Being the first multi-threaded driver could certainly explain the large number of bugs reported, as well.

    Tarkan,

What do you mean by 8XS being expensive?
