Hey guys, I've read about all the guides, posts, topics, and normaly that helps me fine. This time however I cannot fix my troubles; My specs; P4 2.6C HT 1024 MB DDR MSI Neo2 865 PE ( I don't know model name ) Audigy 1 Club3D 6800 Ultra AGP I've tried all drivers about there, including Xtreme G's, got his XG77.62_HD_Type2 installed right now, and it runs o.k. The funny thing is, I tried so many things, at one given time with the demo, I deleted the cache files the game makes and I made changes. I started with low textures and gradualy moved all other settings up, till they were all high and it ran fine (deleting cache evertime I made changes). I was amazed? All the trouble and fuzz, and then it started running good with these settings, hmm.. So I beefed up textures and I was doing medium tex, run smooth, deleted caches as usual, then I put it on high textures and it ran smooth as hell, it just all didnt make sense to me!!! I was very happy at the time and didn't care. The only thing I noticed was shocks due my memory was overused by about 50megs so i put tex back on medium cause I was already happy. Now, I shut down my comp, go to bed, etc, next day startup the game, didn't change anything and voila, there I go 15-35 fps. WTH is going? I had nothing running in the background, not at any given time. I even formatted my PC and the only thing I have installed now is BF2. I can run the game on medium to some settings on low, in 1280 x 960, and my FPS varies, from 60 to 100 on 16 player maps to 35-60 on 32 and 64 around 15-30 (omg). Any one with the same problems? Help, or tips? I'm clueless here :S.
i'm usin 77.72 drivers on a leadtek 6800GT @ 440/1180 with A64 3200+ @ 2500MHz nd 2x512MB ram the weird thng is my resolution cant go higher than 10x7.... i have everything on max including 4xAA and 8xAF and i have 50-100fps it depends .......
well the demo was funked up because i was running so slow, thing with bf2 it seems that even if you have a GREAT card, you need alot of freaking RAM more than 1024 if so! i have 768 and it runs like i hvae 128 megs... lol im buying a gig of ram 2morrow
I have 1.5 GB of RAM, running 1280x1024 (force that res in the command line of the shortcut), everything on HIGH, 2xAA and I'm getting 20FPS on Strike at Kirkand most of the time. i'm using the 77.30s that came with the demo. something's gotta be up..
Sorry..but I don't beleive you need 2 gigs of frickin ram to run the game. I beleive there is connection problems and we have to wait for a patch.
specs --------------------------> no oc at all, 1280 x 960 @ 70hz all on full (no af, 4x aa via game) fps usually 60 - 80 (can drop to 40 odd in smoke/ dust) all background services running 77.50 Try turning your lighting and textures to medium that might help with your fps, leave all else high.
why do you people insist on believing you need 2 gigs, the majority doesnt and run it fine on full settings with a measly 1 gig if you need to , play with pci latency timings, put your agp aperture size to 64 megs if u use agp, etc. cut some tasks before you play.
of the gig you have how much is free be fore you start your game? windows is a hog so are anti anythings spyware instant messages hiden cookies ect. there is also many ways to trim windows down. ever run mentest?
thats low im at 250 -260 the GF pc with 1 g is loaded with crap running all over the place. starting it up uses almost 500.
heh maybe thats u guys' problem get rid of all the hogging stuff. i sure hope you close your AV before you run games if u have one heh, lotta them are huge hogs.
Mine was running a bit choppy too on hi textures, til I boosted the ram. It works perfectly now that I have 2 gig on 1600X1200 using 77.50 drivers and the latest Hyperion driver for my VIA chipset. I also bumped up the aperture in bios to 256meg and it stopped the game jittering when there's a lot happening on screen, so I shall leave it that way.
you bumped it up? wouldnt you want less if you had stuttering? or is there some sort of gain to having it set higher when you have that much ram heh?
My aperture is also set to 256, I have never had stuttering, good question hypnotoad, I will have a play around when I get home from work and see if it does make a difference
I haven't tried the Aperture change, but I lowered lighting from High to Medium, and did the same with shadows. Now I can use 4xaa and never have a stutter at 1152x864 8xaf 4xaa. I haven't tried only shadows at medium or only lighting, so I'm not sure which was doing the stuttering.. I'm lazy Abe
Some ppl get stuttering, and actually fix it by turning hardware acceleration back 1 notch. I've done it myself and its increased fps in a few games and 3dmark etc. Right click, properties, troubleshoot.hardware acceleration. Other then that, change agp aperture to 512mb.
