I'm buying a new power supply for my PC, because my old one gave up completely. My system is in my profile or to the right... i was wondering if this is any good to power it, im not looking to do any overclocking or use extreme amounts of case lighting... Just as long as it can supply my system and keep it nice and stable on standard clocks, i'm happy until i can get some more funds. This one seems cheap, but cheap dosent always mean that its any good... but im on a real small budget. http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPC-Tec_QTEC_550_Watt_PSU_P4_ready_Twin_Fan_Retail_Boxed From the official website... http://www.qtec.info/products/product.htm?artnr=13025 and then theres this... whats the difference between them? http://www.qtec.info/products/product.htm?artnr=13492
As I was told make sure your +12v spec is 20A or greater. I asked the same question earlier. Also you probably want at least 400w power supply.
tomorrow i'll try emailing the company to get more details, it dosent say anything about the amps on the stats pages.
ok, i sent off the Email... but if anybody knows the difference between those two models that would be great
This is the only difference I can tell: (Complies to latest PFC power distortion standards) even is in the name. PSU 550W Dual Fan PFC PSU 550W Dual Fan Gold
Well, even if a Qtec didn't die on me, i would stay away from them if possible. Try to get some power supplies from Enermax or OCZ
the problem with that is the price. Im on a budget of £45 Those Enermax PSUs might be able to withstand nuclear blasts, solve world poverty and supply half of the worlds computers with a constant flow of electricity all at once, but its not a lot of good if i can afford it
i might well have found something... http://www.overclock.co.uk/customer/product.php?productid=17214 I can just about afford that EDIT full specs http://www.thermaltake.com/purepower/W001920.htm looks like a nice one
That PSU will have enough grunt to power my system with my case lighting, yes? 2x cold cathode lights and 2x 60mm illuminated case fans.
you should have plenty of power. try this out to calculate your needs: http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ I have a Thermaltake 480W and it's rock solid: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153007
I just upgraded my case and power supply. I purchased a 500 watt ultra modular PSU with dual fans. 79.00 CDN. I believe that is a stomping price by any means. 65.00 US I think. I am not advertising. I get updates on close outs and liquidation prices sent to me by e-mail from tigerdirect. They have a US and CA site. Take a look and with the system you have I think the modular PSU will make you happy by less clutter and unecessary wiring. Good price hunting!
