ok today i bought the xfx nvidia geforce 6600 standard...but the prob is that it wont work on my Asus nforce1 mobo...it did work for an 1hr when i first installed n i played doom3 , was working pretty well. But then suddenly the game crashed. Now when i try to boot it says acpi.sys having probs...or irq_less equal something like that.

So i have enabled my built in GF2 again.

must be irq conflict ... remove any pci card from the adjacent pci slot (the one beside the agp) .. also check that the molex connector to the card is tightly fitted ...

I would agree on the IRQ conflict. Couldnt you just remove all unnecessary hardware?

well there is only a modem installed on the pci slot3....but now its not giving ne error while startup everything seems fine but now the prob is wen i install ne game or ne package, a error keeps on poping up that there is an error in the installation file CRC error whether im installing from the file on my HDD or from the cd.

i just checked the power rating on the PSU its as follows:

    +5v - 20A
    +12v - 10A
    -5v - 0.5A
    -12v - 0.5A
    +3.3v - 15A
    +5vsb - 2A

so its written 300w....n its not 400w

so may be this is the prob....using the asus probe wen i use the 6600 the +12 shows 12.4xx and the +5 shows 4.9 power consumption

When using the integrated GF2 the +12 shows 12.6xx and the +5 shows 4.7xx power consumption.

So shall i get a new PSU?? and how much wattage is required

damn!! 10A on the +12V rail!! That is the crappiest PSU i have ever seen!!
U must get a new one...
BTW, to see which device is conflicitng with you card for sharing IRQ... Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information... Expand "Hardware Resources" and have a look at "Conflicts/Sharing"...
It will be even better to post a screenshot.

Doesn't matter whether you boot into WinXP on your 6600 or the onboard video, the conflict will still be there. So you can post a screenshot as omarmakki requested.

i don't know much about this nforce audio coded...
but, i assume that it should be fixed by disabling onboard sound...
if it still crashes than it is definately the psu.

I purchased a new 400W psu as this was the only wattage available.
So i came n plugged it in....everything was normal. Then i installed 3D mark 2001se which gave me 9802 points in 1024x786 mode...well i thought everything is fixed but after half hour the system crashed again :-( and wont boot windows, it restarts on the windows xp loading screen.
So im bac to the Interegated GPU...i think i'll give it bac or check it some place else.....i feel like i wasted my money...i purchased it for Bahraini dinars 90 = US$ 230
