I was about to reboot my computer, so I restarted it I went afk for a while.. and when I came back, wtf? the Windows XP loading screen was still there, with the bar moving.

Now that problem has fallen into my arms. I can't even start windows anymore. Everytime I start my comp the "run in safe-mode" windows comes up. If i run windows normally, it just gets stuck at the windows loading screen, with the bar moving (been there for 1h :D). If i select safe mode, the loading screen wont even show, comp hangs with a black screen showing.
Repair by booting with my win xp cd won't work either, just freezes.

Anyway, have anyone got a solution to this?

Sounds like a similar problem to what I had. Could be SP2 related. Did you install SP2? Only solution I can see would be to reformat the HDD and install a fresh copy of Windows and SP2. This is what I had to do.

However, before you do that, just wait. Maybe somebody else has a better solution. :)

Yeah, I have sp2 but I prefer not to reinstall windows since I've got some important schoolwork on the hd.

    Did u install anything new??

First try the step by step configuration mode....(nedd to press F8 at startup) or the Last known Good configuration mode...

If u did install anything new uninstall it...

Also check that your HD is not corrupted....

If you can't boot into safe mode there's something very a-wry.
It could be hardware related if safe mood isn't kicking in for you, try reseating your memory might be a place to start...

    Your hd is going bad
Try to get your homework out before its to late
or your have to tell the teach your dog ate it
With some of the maxtor software your may be able to repair the boot up part with the last known good one (something like that its been along time since i had any hd problems ) I replace my hds before they have high milage

    OK try this
Get a 2nd hd and install it as c (bootup)
    Install windows
Use your bad hd as drive d
Hopefully your pc booted and now you can get to your files in drive d ( the drive that won't boot )
now formate Drive d with Zeros for a clean drive

You could also try copying the bad hd to a new hd by the bios
with maxbast frist this takes time and will copy bit by bit
but than you may end up with two bad hds
    go with frist one

this isn't the case at all almighty

it sounds more like a bootsector error

in this case the only way to fix it is to repartition the drive using the discs that the drives manu provides

According to your system specs you have a non-existant hard drive, so you'll have to find the right file yourself.

How long have you had the drive, btw? If it's relatively new then you may have an entirely different problem on your hands...

Thanks. I've had the disk for about half-a-year or something. Does that count like relatively new?

U can check your HD by connecting it to another computer as a slave disk, and then run diagonistic softwares to check if u'r HD is in working condition....

Yes. If you have the proper equipment (i.e. a secondary comp), go ahead and try what bakuryu suggested. What really needs to be determined is if it's a software issue or a hardware issue...
