Ok so here is what happened: I installed a Evercool Wc-202 unit. Everything went seemeingly ok. I got all the air bubbles out etc. etc. I plug in the power and the interal power connectors inside the computer, I press the on button and everything is whirling, all the hardware seems to be working ok. The LCD screen on the water cooling unit is frozen. The display is stuck like that even when I disconnect the power. All though the unit does pump water and the fans are working. 2nd problem, nothing is showing up my monitor. Hardware is working, but no display. I installed a water block on my video card, but everything seems ok there, I don't know what the problem is. Please help.
I'm not too familiar with the intel motherboards but I had the same thing happen to me when i was inside upgrading and such. I forgot to plug the second (smaller) power cable into the motherboard from the powersupply. Drove me nuts for awhile till I finally retraced all my steps. I know its not directly related to water cooling but... just maybe you disconnected it (if there even is one)
I can't tell you much about your water cooling because I have no experience with it, bu tit should not have an effect on whether your system boots up or not. The first thing that came to my mind is that your CPU isn't seated properly which would be a pain in the ass for you to check at this point. Try taking out your video card and see if you have any beep codes, that will at least tell you if you have a speaker. Make sure you video and RAM are firmly in place and also check your processor if all else fails.
:/ found it, plugged it in the mainbpard. Its making an alarm sound.... I tried reseating the cpu and heatsink already. Im looking through the manual to see what the alarm means.
Ok, alarm means cpu is overheating... While I try to fix that. Can anyone tell me why the lcd on the water cooling unit is frozen like that? Is it possible for a lcd to be burnt in like I know can happen to CRTS? EDIT: In the manual for the cooler it says Power Disconnection Indication Function: Even though the system is off. LCD still siplays temperature and symbols. I guess that explains why the lcd is stuck, but the lcd doesnt change. I'm still at loss why the CPU is overheating.
i don't know much about water cooling systems, but maybe the lcd is just broken. oh, just curious, how did you get your comp running again?
The lcd was working at first, I dont know why its not now. The waterblock had to be rotated 45 degrees. The proper orientation is really odd. It worked once like that. Now it doesn't. This thing is really starting to piss me off :/
I went away for the weekend, came back pressed the power on the comp. LCD on water cooling unit is working, computer booted, and shut down after 5 seconds. Now I turn it on hardware appears to be working, but bios doesnt come up, nothing, no POST beeps or anything. Anyone know what could be causing this?
Um, start with the very very very basics. Make sure your RAM is seated properly. Make sure all power connectors are in. What is making me kind of nervous is that I think maybe your waterblock isn't making good contact with your processor. With the nature of intel chips, I think it will either throttle back or just turn off. Either way, that isn't good. Please make double triple uber duper super sure that your waterblock is approprately making contact with your cpu. Please make double triple uber duper super sure that your waterblock is approprately making contact with your cpu. Repeated twice for emphasis And beyond that, I'd keep checking all the connections on your new water cooling system.
I've checked all the connections multiple times. I've reseated the waterblock mabye five times already... guess I'll just try a sixth time.
When you take the waterblock off, can you see that it is making good contact with the processor? A way to know is if you can see a nice layer of thermal paste spread out all over the cpu core as well as the waterblock. There shouldn't be any pockets or areas where the thermal paste seems to be missing. If there are, then that is bad bad bad contact. Gosh, I really hope you get this thing going.
I was lookin at the cpu which is a northwood p4 and i saw this little circle shaped divot in the upper right corner. Anyone know what that is for? edit: i used artic silver 5 instead of the included paste, but that couldnt be the problem could it?
I think that little circle shape is just to help people orient the processor correctly. Absoluetly nothing to worry about. And no, using arctic silver 5 will not cause a problem. Heck, I never use included paste. I always just bust out my big tube of AS5 and slap that one there. So yep, that was a fine choice on your part. So when you took the waterblock off, could you see thermal paste spread out all over the processor and waterblock? If you could, take a pic will ya? Post it so I can have a look see. Heatsinks/waterblocks that are possible not seated correctly give me the willies.
it boot up a couple times, but not even to the windows loader edit: just got it to boot up again, went into bios, cpu temp is at 35c. which is good. it said dram timing was set too tightly? i havent even touched those settings in the bios i set the settings to bios default and then i got to the windows loader, it flashed a blue screen, then restarted this is extremely frustrating and puzzling
I GOT INTO WINDOWS, THANK THE LORD. I just hope it remains stable and working. Thanks for everyones help and suggestions. The temps of the wc202 are about the same of my gigabyte aircooler but tons quiter.
