I just used the auto detect for optimal freq. that came with my card . I went from 290/400 to 320/464. The card is a BFG FX5500 OC 128. Do these settings seem high.

Where is the button to detect optimal settings? I have coolbits installed but I can't find that button to save my life.

I just right click on my desktop , highlight Nvidia display , and right click my display and the Nvidia GeForce FX5500 window comes up ,then click clock freq. and I have an option no overclocking or manual OC (its under manual). I don't have coolbits I guess it came with the card /drivers

those settings will prob be ok. If you have any problems just back it down a tad. I would go w/ 315/450
