I hear the beta 76.50 drivers have the wide-screen bug fixed... I ran them for a while, and although they worked GREAT for SLI and such, I had thought they caused a serious disk problem, where as, my load times went sky high... but this is most likely a SATA cable which is not connected all the way or is getting interference from some other component in my PC... I have been reading up on my problem, and I am almost positive that's what it is... Anyways, the 76.50 drivers can be found on this site in the downloads section (not the forums, but the main www.guru3d.com site).

Anyways - as for the jitters, I know my screen does that a tiny bit on some of the 3Dmark tests, but only once in a while... never on games. Maybe your PSU is having trouble keeping up... do you have a 24pin adapter going to you mobo for power? Or does your PSU have the 24pin cable standard?

Glad to hear you got most of your problems solved. :) ... I have the same video cards you do! I will be interested to see if they overclock well in your machine, if you are going to OC them, that is. :)

I will buy a msi neo4 sli platinium soon so i want to know whats better for me: buy 2x6600gt or 1 6800gt??? I'm only looking for performance so i don't care if the 6800gt gives me the posibility to buy another one in the future. The only thing i want to know is if the 2x6600gt works better than 1 6800gt.

get 1x6800GT. Its less hassle than SLI and gives better performance at higher resolutions. On top of that (I know u said you dont care... but still) it pays to leave your options open ;)

It's a close call... I would say the 6800GT will be faster, but it can all change when overclocking comes into play... I think the two 6600's can be faster in certain situations, but the 6800GT can also sometimes... that's a tough call. I know Lane gets about 7500 on 3Dmark05 with his 6600GTs, which is GREAT, so perhaps they are faster... not sure...

    i dont know...im going to check...but i think its a 24pin cable..

thanks...well i do have a question about my score...
    aquamark gave me a 10000CPU and a 12000GPU
do you think its fine or right enough for my spces...i have'nt tuched the bios settings though......im new with amd so i dont know...what does what exactly...when it comes to performance...

    thanks..im going to give them a try...hopefully that'll go...

Plus there's this option to the pannel..it says something like use SLi in single GPU mode something...and the other says use SLi in Multi GPU mode..

i tried em out..did'nt feel any different...but which is better...multi right...

my temps were at 63C is that normal...

i also want to knw weather if its worth thinking to take my cards back for a x850xtPE....or no will that not do as good as these can...in real time games....

thanks...i know i seem ignorant..at this point...but my brain stopped working...a while back..while building my rig...
my brain is all numb att this point

thanks...do let me know...what you think of how my cards performing...inturms of its scores....

In Benchmarks the 6600GT's are faster in terms of score, but when it comes to games a 6800GT has the edge at higher res/with AA and AF cos it has true 256bit bus/256mb memory.

guys another thing what does Show GPU load balancing do...
are the green and yellow lines that come on screen a path of showing the load balance..or is it something freaky on my screen...

yeah, the green lines are perfectly normal when u enable load balancing. Its a way of showing you what each card is rendering.

As to your other issues, an X800 is not going to be anywhere near as fast as 2 6800GT's, but SLI does require some fiddling. If you want an easy life go with one card, if you want the performance, go SLI. When u get it sorted its pretty straight forward.
SLI does have a known issue with wide screen, although not using widescreen myself im not the best person to ask.

Oh, and your scores seem about right for an untweaked A8N with 2x6800GT's.

how would i know...if im using SFR or AFR...
where can i find this option....

    thanks...

    EDIT
do you think its a good idea to keep the 2x6800GT's even though i have a Wide Screen LCD monitor...

    thanks again..

okey so one thing i have been checking out prizes and one 6800gt here in Argentina it's about u$s 550 and the 2x6600gt are u$s450 both, so if there aren't many differences about performance it's better to stay with the 2x6600gt. What do you people think??. (have in mind that one U$S here is worth $2,93 so it's really a pain in the ass =P).

go with the 66gt's there a ripper little card you will notice very little in games my ultras dont do anything better than my 66gts apart from bench marks every game i have on the 66's ran smooth as a baby bum at 1600x1200 so save your cash m8

    alex chan

Those 01's are crap mate my 66gt's made 27k in 01 stock sli so your doing something wrong how about enabling sli in the drivers by selecting the 3d mark 01se profile and try that again. If you where trying to show to guy the difference between cards maybe some true game benches would of been better than 3d mark which doesn’t have a true bearing on games like doom 3 engine based games which is gl and halflife 2 engine games which are optimised of ati cards. But I commend your for the effort :) you dont think 36700 in 01 was done with out sli do you

    mike m8 dont know about the x800 m8 :)

    I know. LOL!

I am thinking about re-partitioning... I guess the only problem with a big partition like that is when it gets full the full disk sweeps to gather data take a longer time, but only if it's fragmented... De-frags will take a LONG time also... formatting it, though, went faster than my RAID1 partition with the same drives. wow. I think the SIraid RAID1 implementation might just be a little screwy. who knows.

Anyways, I will likely have to get a real copy of disk-keeper or some professional grade optimizer so I can keep my application data together in the same areas on the disks... anyways. I am going to leave as is for now and see how it goes.. my plan is to keep this rig in an "easy to format and start over" config until I feel really comfy with it. :)

PS: another thing I did differently this time around is I am using the marvel lan port... it provides a 50% CPU overhead savings from the Nvidia one. So says anandtech. :)

All of that score is done by just installed driver and software than run without any special setting.
Yes, I was just want to show the different between card.

I think you would see some improvement with some more RAM, 512mb doesnt really cut it on a high end system anymore.
