4 meg down, 512kb up Cable Telewest Broadband in UK - £50 per month (I know, its high !) Unless you live in London or big cities, its the fastest you can get...
256/256k $50/month (about $35-40US) Trying to convince the old man of the house to get 8mbit/1mbit with the same provider, with the possibility of an upgrade to 24mbit later in the year (ADSL2+ was just approved in AU) But sadly, australia is a country still bound by download limits.
Technically, my connection is 768 upload and 256 download. But since I work for the ISP that I get my service from, it is actually unlimited. If no one else is stressing the wireless backhaul, in perfect conditions, I can hit 8-12 megabit, both up and down. But under normal usage conditions, I average around 2 megabit up and 2 megabit down.
I'm moving to Canada! I'm on 1mb/sec with Blueyonder. I started on 512 then got upgraded to 768kb/sec then another upgrade =] I've not got a limit on downloading though.
Careful there, us UK'r are very much behind other countries. You have a 1mbps. Thats a bit not a byte. Most people get megabyte connections. Always easier when you just say how fast you download. So in your case its 130kb/sec. I'm on the 2mbps connection (260kb/sec) with the same basic upload speed of 256mbps. (30kb/sec) Have to upgrade to the 4mbps connection to get faster upload speeds. I really like BY overall good uptime, only had about one downtime session for an evening over like 2-3years. I also love the unlimited bandwidth, although i know people who have been disconnected due to "extreme" use. (downloading constantly over say 3-4 days) All in all i wish i was on one of the new gigabyte/sec connections that are coming out. But always remember: The internet is only as fast as who your downloading from
I use GPRS and they say I am on a 115K line but actualy it's around 50K.....and download speed around 10K (average) And I pay about Rs. 250 (around US $5.5) and I get unlimited access
