I've tried to find help on so many websites and finally ran into this site. Hopefully I can get some help.... I really can't figure whats going on with my FPS. I just recently upgraded from the Radeon 9200 128 MB to the Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and the only difference I've noticed is my detail setting being able to be set to medium instead of low. Also the resolution went up to 1024x..instead of being at 800x600. I have disabled Vsync, and the AA and AF have been turned off. Well, there really wasnt an option to turn it off completely, just setting it to 2x or checking the "application Preference" box. (I just left the boxes unchecked so I guess both are set at 2x, only because this made the game a little less choppy) I am still stuck at about 50-65 fps MAX when not much is going on, which is the same as my 9200 card. And i drop as low as 20-30 when firefighting happens. My fps_max is set to 300. I cannot figure out why i cant stay in the range of 70-80 fps constant. I expected a somewhat improvement when i switched the cards, maybe i was wrong and should acccept the low fps even with the 9800 pro? Specs: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ @ 2.09 GHz 512 MB ram 9800 pro 128 MB and all updated ATI drivers Thanks in advance for any help....
did you do a uninstall of the video drivers and than driver cleaner pro than a fresh install,I recomend the 4.12 cats, they work good with my 9800pro
Yes, i removed all my old drivers...HOw important is the driver cleaner? I didn't have a problem removing my old drivers......also can you specify a link for the 4.12? I'm not lazy, just get easily confused when it comes to drivers...... Thanks again....
Have you installed the latest chipset drivers? You don't even mention your motherboard make or model, so unless you give that info no one can point you to where you can find your chipset drivers.
Yes, I have the latest chipset drivers. I have the ABIT AN7 motherboard. It says NVIDIA nForce2 Utra400/mCP-T Chipset and i dled the drivers from this site: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_udp_winxp_5.10
Did the reinstall of all drivers, motherboard, VC, etc and even ran driver cleaner. Installed the 4.12 catalyst drivers. STILL NOTHING. Even turned Fastwrite off.....NOTHING...dont know what to do anymore....
As a last resort you could reinstall Windows. This will most likely fix whatever problems you have, but of course you have to take the time to reinstall and update drivers, and then install your programs again.
hmmm i had no idea it should've been running at 2.16GHz. What could be some causes of this? And would it make that big a difference?
I don't know what clock you should be running, but a difference between 2.16 Ghz and 2.09 Ghz isn't going to make that much of a performance difference.
Lol, 100 points in 3DMark03 is nothing. I raised my score in 3DMark05 by 50 points just by tweaking settings, and I'm sure 50 points in 3DMark05 is greater than 100 points in 3DMark03. And guess what, I noticed no performance increase at all in gaming or anything else.
Well if a 3000+ xp should run @2.16 Not any less ...there must be a problem some were you check it out Your bus speed is low and can lower your AGP speed Not by much but benchs will show the differance
It could be your motherboard. My processor was suppose to run at 200 Mhz FSB but was running at 204 Mhz FSB stock because that is the default setting for the motherboard. So just go to your bios and up your FSB. It could also be your multiplier, but since I don't know much about AMD processors I can't really help you there.
Lol, well of course, but I know sometimes AMD has crazy multipliers (i.e. x.5) so it could be that either his FSB is off or his multiplier is off, or even both.
