weee a 76.xx-series for 64bit ! And I just installed win XP pro x64 yesterday thinking I was stuck with 71.84-64bit weeeeee
They are not. And for the ppl who are thinking about trying Windows x64, dont do it, its not worth it. Driver support sucks atm, and my pc booted almost 5 times slower then Windows 32-bit. There is also no gain in games, so there is just no point yet trying it.
On Planet AMD64 users running the x64 RTM version reported very good experience with this driver release, both IQ and frame rate (e.g. 3DMark05), and this driver set seems to be the first to support SLI on x64 ;-)
One downside, no setup.exe (installer) was included. uninstall your old drivers properly and then install these drivers the old fashion way: > System properties > Device Manager > Graphics acrds > Driver > Update
Man... is it me, or is Half-Life 2 crappy with these drivers? Doom 3 plays so nice, but HL2 just dies!
I have Windows x64 RTM installed and am loveing it. The only drivers I cant find and wont for a while are my HP PSC1315 Printer drivers. Most printers you can get to work with another driver already in Win x64. Other than that, no bad experinces. The 76.71 drivers work great. Havnt played HL2 but play CS:S regularly and it looks great with them.
I have WinXP 64 installed (on a dual boot with regular XP) and there really is no benefit in games. XP 64 Pro is designed more for math intensive programs like aeronautical sims and CAD apps more than games. Also, since most games are 32-bit only, it automatically reverts to running them in native 32-bit, so this is why there is no real benefit to XP 64 for games yet. I will say the OS itself IS faster, but not any 32-bit apps.
I am having issues with installing these drivers the old fashion way. For some reason when I do it it doesn't look like it installs them at all it just skips over them it looks like. When I used 32 bit I did it the same way but for some reason it isn't letting me now. I am using the build 1830. Hope anybody can help cause I have heard these give pretty good performance in Source and benchies. EDIT: I found the 76.71 Performance Drivers with the Installer.
hey Nitroz3x, ive got windows x64 RTM all running sweet as apart from in device manager i have "RAID Controller" without drivers installed, ive tried the VIA 64bit RAID drivers and the Promise SATA Drivers as well, and since im running my harddrives in RAID0 on my promise controller it cant be that. I noticed you have a similar rig to mine.
