Hey guy, I am posting this on behalf of my friend. He recently upgrade to GeXCube 9600 Pro with 4 Pixel and 4 Vertex pipelines. He got 80XX in 3Dmark01, 21XX in 3DMark03, 1000 in 3DMark05, 21FPS in Aquamark with Pentium 4 2.4 (533MHz bus speed), single channel 512MB and Catalyst 4.12. Does those scores fell in typical range? He also tested with older Catalyst 3.6, unfortunately the performance increase is trivial.

I just interest to find out which driver you guys are using so that he could have something to start with.

    Thanks. Cheers.

Normal 9600 Pro would score like that:
    3D Mark 2001: 10500-11600
    3D Mark 2003: 3100-3300
    3D Mark 2005: 1300-1600
    Aquamark: around 25k

Your friends card is simply GeCube: cheap and slow, it probably has only 400mhz DDR instead of 600mhz DDR, but it has 400mhz core, so it is officialy Radeon 9600 Pro.

I now have a new rig but I just sold my other computer which had a P4 2.53GHz Northwood processer, 512 DDR ram and a Tyan 9600pro card. My Mark05 score with that system was 1162.
This card had 400MHZ core and 600Mhz memory. I had it overclocked also.

I figure your friends score is about right with his system.

The 9600pro doesn't bench too well with 3DMark05.

That was what prompted me to purchase a new computer designed with gaming in mind.

To some people it doesn't matter what res they play HL2 or Far Cry on. Myself I like to crank up all the eye candy and still enjoy fast frame rates. I guess it's all about what your into.

Wolverines! I used to love watching them play when I lived in Detroit. Almost every weekend I used to party in Ann Arbor!

I love Ann Arbor, so many women so little time. The male to female ratio in Ann Arbor was so great! I swear it was like 3 women to every man out there. Gota love that ****! :D

1076 points in 3d mark 05 (second newest omegas), 2778 in 03 (newest omegas)

Underclocked Mobility radeon (because it's on laptop, stock is lower than normal mr9600 pro, fujitsu-siemens sells with the name, I wonder does this even mach mr9600np.

This is a nice card, but I can't use more than 2xaa 0xaf, maxed settings 1024x768 in SoF2, hey, that's 2002 game... I tried HL2 on this, lol, that was just horrible.

    There something to compare.

Those score are a tad low. I know because I have the same Proc as him. he should hit 10000 in 01SE. tell him to try the 4.9's, install mobo drivers and all windows updates.

Hey guy's, try the 4.12 WHQL driver.

My wifes computer has a P4 with a 9600Pro card. I dumped her old drivers and loaded these and got about a 20 to 30 percent performance increase. I also benched it with 3dMark05 and got 1258 which is pretty good for that system.

well i dont have a 9600 pro, im waiting on a 9600xt in the mail, but i did noticed on my 7200 and a 9000pro i was using that the 5.1 official drivers scored the best for both cards on 3dmark 01.

ill get some results this next week with my new rig and post the results. :)

man if your scores are only number 58 (and they are damn god for the 9600 I wonder what number 1 is!

I can remember hearing a while back that some people when the fx5950 / 9800xt were king were getting over 10k in 3dmark03 with hugely overcclocked 5950's. Probably with phase change cooling.

Bit yeah anyway I should test my laptop with its 9700pro mobility radeon (basically a 9600pro desktop version)

Actually 8000 in 3Dmark01 is horrible. Before this rig, i had a 2.4 Ghz P4 C @ 3.0ghz with stock 9600 pro with dual channel ddr 400 512 ram, and i got 15100 on it. I got about about 3k in 3dmark03. I get 16500-17000 on this with stock 6600GT.

Always research before you buy. There are a ton of sites that ran these two cards head to head and the 9600Pro always won.

Never buy ANYTHING before you spend at least a week gathering information about models and brands.

I have a "Powered by ATI" 9600 Pro in my other computer...950 MHz Celeron...P3 mobo setup...once I upgrade all drivers I'll send you some scores...but you probably could care less about a "Celeron" cpu...but I've upgraded to my present mobo and really have no reason to upgrade my system any further...at least for another two years...by that time the "new advanced" systems will actually be faster in performance than the prescott's are...lol:rolleyes:
