My ISP was great at one time over 3 years ago it was a great ADSL connection just last year they started Throttling Bandwidth speeds for all users. Just near the end of the year the unlimited bandwidth for all users was scrubbed and made 40gb max any higher equaled DSL cancellation (was still advertised as unlimited). Just today they changed the plan again and throttled the Speed more and made the max to 10gb any higher equals 0.01 per MB we already pay 59.95/tx for the service per month. MY only option is to just scrap it or stay with it. If I scrap it there is only Dialup Left
Who is your ISP? Man, where I live that ISP would get laughed out of town. We get unlimited 100 MB/s broadband for 29 bucks a month. Although it never actually gets 100 MB/s It gets more like 9.
We have 1 ISP its a Previous Crown Corporation and is the only ISP here for DSL Northwestel paired with Sympatico Service
I kept ranting that Cable was better. Now I have the facts to prove it. My parents cable provider (Comcast) just upped dl banwidth from 1.5Mbps to 4Mbps for all users nationwide. Harrhar, now cable effectively owns any DSL or ADSL. Even with crappy upload (256kbps).. that is what DSL usually gives. And just think about this. PHONE LINE vs CABLE LINE... hm which is better? Yea.
Hah ahahaha Come to newzealand were one fat company owns everything that is telecom 60$ monthly 2.4mbs 10gig cap then falls to 60kbs If anyone does not understand that its 240kbs 10gig cap witch I use in 3days then drops to 6kbs
Hell, even I'd be happy with that. I've got a 512/128, 16GB per month, for $60 Stupid Telstra forces the cost up on everything.
Sounds like the lands down under need some good old fashioned deregulation like they did in Canada and the States. Best thing that ever happened.
I think finally the UK is speeding up, BT is introducing 2Mb ADSL with free upgrades to the people who are on it already My ISP, Plusnet is upgrading every1 free of charge to as fast as their line supports, which, on around 500 exchanges, is 8Mb... monthly price is £21.99 with caps but decent caps, Onpeak (8am - 1am) its 30Gb* a month and offpeak (1am - 8am) its 230Gb* a month, this is when you are paying £21.99, the more you pay the more amount of bandwidth you get. Starts in April i think with every1 getting upgraded (I know my line supports 2Mb but hopefully It'll support 4 or 8Mb) to as fast as their lines can support. source here and here cant wait edit * - these figures are based on someone with a 2Mb connection, plusnet have said (in the sources aboce) that when people get 4Mb and 8Mb connections the offpeak useage allowance will be higher, much higher aparently.
i know! bring on april, im looking for minimum 2Mb ADSL come onnnnnnn april, I'd be so happy if my exchange was one of the 500 that can do 8Mb and i got it... 512K is too slow lol ..sorry aussies, i remember what dial-up was like, i never want to go back
It's strange how everybody speaks of cheap bandwith, HDTV on demand over standard TCP/IP, swithing all communication to the Internet, etc, etc... and yet all over the world, the ISPs seem to be capping users and imposing traffic limits... ? WTF?
