I upgraded my old P3 866 with GF3 ti200 to an Athlon XP 2600+ (barton) with a GF3 ti200. It felt like a new graphics card. 3dmark 01 scores doubled.
Off topic, but once you unlock the pipes, how would go about verifying to make sure they _really_ are unlocked?
Just run RivaTuner. In the main screen under your graphics card name, the currently open pipes are mentioned. HAHA! I just unlocked it from 12/5 to 16/6 and got 1000 extra 3DMarks!
i just got a bfg 6800 oc today, i love it i can play all games with max aa and af smoothly, im afraid to unlock tho, but if i need more power to keep games running smoothly, i may try unlocking in the future? but there's no need now but is there really anything to be scared of? i may be missing out on a performance increase with no negative side effects?
I got my gt a last monday, upgraded from a pny 5900, great card the guru in me needed, more power. 40c to 53c time to O/C
i do see some subtle artifacts in 3dmark2003, but not in games... is that okay? or should i lock them again?
Thanx, that sure made me feel better. I was thinking of locking them again, but I thought I'm gonna miss the great performance boost; and so I've just decided to keep them unlocked; won't ever do serious damage I guess. (And if it does, will it damage the stock parts?)
dont worry, keep them unlocked, its safe if you ask me, the chances are on your side for the card to keep operating properly IMO
i have a friend with a gf4ti, nice card, I used to own one, gf4ti4200 what would you upgrade to Peyres?
hope you dont mind the double post, I have this link to contribute about HDR: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/farcry13.html
i'm looking at everyone here talking about upgrading from a 5900u, 9600, 5600, or a gf4. this is really going to be nice... look at what i'm limping along with. ---------> i used to have a 5600u, but after many months of having it overheat at stock speeds in a very well-ventilated case (average case temp is about 5 deg warmer than room temp), i RMA'd it and got a refund from newegg. i just found a deal at microcenter on an evga 6800nu for $240, so i'm jumping on it. i have one reserved, and i'm picking it up this evening. this should be a real treat.
I have just replaced the Good Ti4200 card with better Fx5900xt card From the past July, The Main thing that made me bring this 5900 card is to allow me to enable A.F @ 4X Filtering, oFcourse AntiAliasing mode is handled easily with this card as well as the Ti4200, But the Ti card was killing me when i enable the A.F @ even 2X mode, & i cant play any game without enabling the Anistropic Filtering magic, Only 6 Months did pass since I got this 5900xt card, So it doesn't make sense now if i replace this card with a new one, i will wait till @least the next summer come to put my eyes on 6800 card - as the God wills,
