Nvidia fix water reflections in dx8.1 (hl2)

    i cant belive noone has replied to this! I have just done it, and it works like a dream! NO SH*T

    This really really does give fx and 4 users dx9 reflections in 8.1! Looks identical and NO FRAMRATE LOSS!


    I cant praise this more, i cant wait for this guy to sort it out for HL2.....

    I think this is doing something totally differant. None of the other solutions allowed me to play at an accepable frame rate..25 fps is just not enough..this however seems to have no impact of frame rates at all.

    This is in CSS, still waiting for the HL2 version.

    This works..try it and bump it..

    yeha. agreed, mr cheese this is totally differant.


    I play HL2 in 1280 (my tft res) in dx8.1 my framerates are around the 80's if i use presi's method my framerate drops to around 50's in 1024 which is an unacceptable loss, as it looks slightly blurry in 1024.

    This method has allowed me to maintain my high framerates in my monitors native resolution and enjoy non fp16 colour gameplay with fantastic reflections. All this guy is doing (josh or someone) is enabling a feature which is already possible with dx 8.1, but for some reason was not written..... in those wonderus 6 years.

    maybe it has something to do with the ati sponsorship? or am i pulling reasons out of the sky?
    go figure....

    like i say.......this is more like a mod that a patch......it just modified the water texture.......

    and a mod is wat valve encourage.

    That guy is just being a pussy. Ignore him :)
