Might be a bit of a downgrade in some instances.

So i played with OC a bit and it has not gone well so far but I have not touched voltages yet. Will update when I have viable results.

    You.... :nerd:

    haha
I'm getting tired of tweaking my way into performance with my Ti. recent DX12 benchmark started to make me think about jumping to pascal.

Damn, when i think of that guy in mid-may that was offering me 600euros for y Ti, if i had done the deal the guy would probably try to kill me by now.

As I've said before, 1070 is good for that upgrade twitch, sure it's still quite bad price/performance, but compared to 1080 it's gold. 970/980/980Ti will only continue to go down anyway.

The only "smart" way when it comes to saving money with GPU upgrades is to buy on generation release and sell ~2 months before next generation release. But that still either leaves you dry for a while, or you have to have a secondary, but crappy gpu for such transitions.

Or you could have luck, and get a clueless buyer, and hit the jackpot. :D

1070 is not a good upgrade from anything more powerful than 970.

    I have GIGABYTE GTX 1070 G1 Gaming.

Supposedly it has 8GB VRAM. I triued to run 3DMark FireStrike Extreme on insane settings and Witcher 3 with upscaling and Ultra but maximum VRAM usage capped at 4007 MB

    The hell?

This card cannot stop surprising me...110fps in Heaven stock air cooled the cheapest one on the market...looks like they made a huge jump tessellation wise... :)

I'm sure it's cheap Chinese counterfeit gtx1070 with only 4gb VRAM.

I "sidegraded" from a 980ti to a 1070 recently so that I could give my friend a more capable VR card for his Vive.

So far it runs every game maxed out on my 1080p 144hz monitor just like my 980ti did, but while using less power.

In VR it can handle maxed out Hover Junkers, and 1.7x Supersampling via Chaperone Switcher in Elite: Dangerous without triggering the 45 fps Reprojection feature too often (1.8-2.0 is GTX 1080 territory.)

It scores a tad bit higher in all benchmarks, but not much really.

It suffers from some of the same problems that the new drivers cause on the 980ti, such as the system completely lagging up and having to be restarted every few days.

Basically, it feels like I'm using the same card as I was before, in every game I play, and in Windows.

I'm not sure how much it will outperform a 980ti in future VR games that utilize nvidias 10xx series VR enhancements. Could be quite a bit.

Hey Viper! That's a nice card you there! :D

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, can you spoil me with some feedback please?

Like gaming/driver experience, temps, stock boosts level, max OC, coil whine if any, etc.

    Thanks.

Pretty much the same expectations from all the info I gathered so far from either forums or reviews.

Gaming quality/performance would be about the same as a 980Ti.

Some wins or loses maybe but mostly about equal to a good 980Ti or a bit better.

Also, just curious - what's everyone's idle temperatures for their GTX 1070?

With ~30C env. temp mine (GIGABYTE 1070 G1) idles at 37-38C with 40-43% fan speed power.

    Compare to my old:

    MSI GTX260: 35-36C with 38-40% FAN SPEED
    GIGABYTE GTX670: 30-31C with 30% FAN SPEED

    similar env. temp

It just weird it is so damn hot. Is it normal for these?

You can see them from the image 2126/9.5g..
The card was the cheapest one on our market :3eyes:Gigabyte WF2 OC 1070
Stock cooler is surprisingly good for only 2 fans and heat-pipes considering these summer heats over here :)
Some benches run as high as 9.8 to almost 10ghz on the memory w/o loosing performance.
AVP benchmark is a good example what gddr5 is capable of:

Here's 3dmark at almost 24/7 settings... just lifted the fan speed for my calmness:

64* just opened the HW Monitoring graph right after FS finished.
While gaming with custom curve the temps are fluctuating from high 60s to low 70s *C while the ambient is 28-9 . For sure G1 should have much better cooler :)
