The GTX 1070 Thread

Prices continue to drop here in Holland, looking good!

€474 and dropping.

 

Firestrike score is a little low. wonder if it is due to 2500k only at 4.5Ghz or PCIe 2.0? I mean it's only off Hilbert's GFX score by 400 points.

 

My Gigabyte 1070 G1 scored a graphic score of 19435 before I returned it. It boosted to 1935-1974. Sort of regret returning it! Looks like even MSI with its 10 power phases in general don't boost higher! On bone stock that is.
Only thing with it was it constantly hit power limit of 95-107

 

That or you might have custom driver settings in the Nvidia CP. Increasing eyecandy decreases score. But your platform is dragging the score down a bit ,im sure.

Out of curiosity ,why did you return it?

Also my power limit is a bit weird, don't know if a bug or not from MSI AB but i once saw a power limit of 144% after a Timespy run , even though max in AB is 120%, and when playing games i often see 122-124 %.

 

Wasn't a wise move! I'm still torned between getting a 1070 or getting 1080ti when it'll be available.
Also didn't like the plastic shroud and it turned out all these cards became plastic.

 

My Gaming X with PL in AB 126% goes to 1947Mhz on boost kinda just left it there because I've been sidetracked with going out for my bday weekend and dates and such. I've kinda regreted not waiting but every time I see the thing in my case I smile and just don't worry.

I'll try to get some OC tests today then put the OC bios on and see my performance.

I doubt I need to keep any of the OC for 1080p and keep it on the default OC bios mode and only crank it up If I really need to but I think unless it's DX12 I should be good unless I decide to get a 1440p monitor.

 

Nope fresh driver install no profiles yet and After Burner is not installed. I will play around with it more later. I had a feeling that my Sandy Bridge may hold it back just slightly. Again not by much.

I thought I'd have a bit of buyer's remorse, but I serioulsy don't. Until AMD puts out a contender, prices on 1070/1080 will not drop significantly anyway.

Unless you have a 144Hz monitor, for 1080p the 1070 out of the box OC is more than enough. I'd still advise to put some memory OC in 5-600 will do. But other than that, the difference is minimal when it comes to core OC.

I'm at 1440p @60Hz and I'm very happy with performance @2068~/9410MHz.

 

I think the 1070 is a better deal than the 1080. with the 970/980/980ti, the 980 became the weird middle child. Same as the 1080 will be when the 1080ti comes out.

Just flashed my GB WF2 1070 with G1 BIOS and while no benefits flashed the Xtreme Gaming one...despite the 114 vs 111% maximum PT the memory flew up
10ghz mark was hit with GDDR5 on stok AIR cooler )

 

the review for the 1070 g1 gaming, say this

where is that additional 6 pin connector?

Well you know, being a computer nerd ahem Hilbe... sometimes requires taking part in some recreational activities, in which one at times starts writing a review. :banana:

Give the man a break, seeing how many cards coming out at once with so many people asking for reviews. Besides if you notice, you would see him talking about the gtx 1070 cards in general. I'd say the review was written to include all gtx 1070 cards with slight changes to suit each card being reviewed. This card has only 1 8 pin pci connector.

 

OKAAY!! Just upgraded to Windows 10 and all my stuttering issues have gone...no more BF4 laggy stuttering..... smooth as silk!!

Has anyone any experience with Palit GTX 1070 Dual? I can't find anything solid on it.

Looks like a Founder's Edition PCB with a cheap double fan cooler?

Do you think the JetStream it's worth the price premium of 30euros over the DUAL model(439 vs 469 euros)?

I'm feeling "cheap" right now and I'm thinking about this Palit GTX 1070 DUAL card but something tells me I might regret it later.

Any info would be appreciated.

There is two Palit jetstream models, normal and super.

costs 449€. Only 10 € more, and is definitely better, if you are in doubt.

The super costs 469€, which is the one i opted for actually, but it is out of stock unlucky me so i am waiting for it. I want a gtx 1070 that goes beyond 2ghz and stays there. Not about to settle for 1900mhz or something like that. Returned the msi gamer x for that reason.

The jetstream and super jetstream are similar but the latter comes with higher tdp and factory oc, and is supposedly better binned and handpicked for better oc'ing. I recommend getting the jetstream, or at least making an order with bank transaction as the type of payment just to ensure you get that price if it goes up, and you can always cancel the order if you want to check something else later on. You don't have to pay the money right away, you can just place the order and wait for monday, maybe the prices will drop even further by then. You won't get in trouble if you don't send the money, you are getting the card first once the money gets in their account first anyway.

 

I cannot order from mindfactory(don't ship here) and where I shop online the cards I'm willing to get are:

Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! €479 and 5years warranty(2 years + 3years if registered is really tempting).

Gainward GTX 1070 Phoenix same price at €479 but I don't like the color scheme.

Next is €488 for both Palit GTX 1070 GameRock and Super JetStream versions. Not willing to pay any more.

Also all the above prices have additional fees totaling €18(shipping+payment fees).

And I'm pretty sure Palit doesn't use any binning process. Its just out of the box OC added.

Seems I should scratch that Palit DUAL and try to decide between the Palit JS or Zotac AMP! cards.


P.S: I know my previous post seems kinda obvious and some might take as unnecessary but I'm just trying to help my self decide.
