I would guess that any kind of meaningful overclock would at least require an 8-pin connector. Most people should wait for custom PCB versions, unless you are ok with stock performance. I'm sure that the card is actually fine at stock (like all stock cards).

A tripple fan fury type cooler with 2 power wires is what i be interested in. Those stock 480 coolers remind me of the cheap 970 coolers from nvidia last year lol...Good for throw away cooling i guess.

I guess a dual-fan with 8-pin PCI-E would be enough for most people to increase the card performance vs reference model and reach higher priced GPUs.
Next card to watch (I guess): custom versions of 470, but I am not aware of the official ETA launch.

I'm just wondering what the performance gap will be between the 470 and 480 and could we see another case of potentially being able to flash a 470 to a 480 if it turns out it has all cores functioning? (Kinda like flashing the Fury to a Fury X)

That depends on the way that the units are disabled. I think that the difference is something like 25% of the card being disabled with the 470. I might be wrong.

From the specs published so far it just seems like some CUs are disabled so a 470 will either be a 480 that has defective units disabled or, it's a cut down version.

So like you say, depends on how the units are disabled, lets hope for prospective bargain hunters, they're just bios locked and not lasercut.

That's an estimate and it shows that the cards are on the limit.

I doubt another power connector will make much difference. Some other bottle neck I'd bet.

I mean, if it's just a power issue then a bios mod should do it really, assuming the vrms can handle the power

A leak from tomshardware italy. They say the first 480 8gb on sale will be 300-320€...not appealing :S

It'll be around £250 for the 8gb version over here in the UK, according to Gibbo from OcUK. Might be slightly more.

So yeah, 300 eur would make sense.

They just look at a single Italian shop https://www.e-key.it/prod-vga-amd-g...gddr5-8gb-dp-hdmi-gv-rx480d5-8gd-b-119957.htm. I am not sure if it will the final price that shop is well known in Italy because well.. Some OEM and AIB vendors (like MSI Italy) marked it as untrusted reseller.

However in US I found this (note I do not know this shop): http://www.shopblt.com/item/xfx-radeon-rx-480-pcie-8gb/pinete_rx480m8bfa6.html

Calm before the storm? There's a lot of anticipation, anxiety and excitement going on every which way I go, well not really lol.

Let's see what this card for the masses(and a viable upgrade for my other build) can do.
Patiently waiting for the reviews to flood in especially from the guru.
