"Oculus (and basically Facebook) owns creative content If you create something using Oculus’ services, the Terms of Service say that you surrender all rights to that work and that Oculus can use it whenever it wants, for whatever purposes: By submitting User Content through the Services, you grant Oculus a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual (i.e. lasting forever), non-exclusive, transferable, royalty-free and fully sublicensable (i.e. we can grant this right to others) right to use, copy, display, store, adapt, publicly perform and distribute such User Content in connection with the Services. You irrevocably consent to any and all acts or omissions by us or persons authorized by us that may infringe any moral right (or analogous right) in your User Content." Copy pasta because starting a thread with just a link and no comment is kind of silly.
And this is why when FB got involved my interest in rift dropped to zero. Sides cconsidering that the rift does not come with its custom controllers, it and the vive are likely near equal in price when all is said and done.
Thank you for posting this. I have been looking forward to getting an oculus but ever since valve announced the vive I've been thorn between those two. This is most likely why facebook got involved. Call me a fool by I honestly did not think the oculus team would sink so low. The early backers are the ones getting the hardest blow. Funny how this information came about just after they started shipping it. I'm glad I did not preorder. It was a close call.
Why would it be a joke? I'm still uncertain how well valve handles hardware. I know it's HTC hardware but it's up to valve to make it work as we on guru3d expect.
Yeah facebook does seal the deal. I remember when facebook bought oculus and oculus said that facebook would let them operate the same way without interference. Yeah right... The first thing they seem to have done is added new ways to mine data. Pixel mining... wow. I'm very much looking forward to getting the vive now. Ohh vive ohh why does it cost a small fortune.
Much more comfortable with Steam Vive, plus they have the best platform to build VR on. Glad i pre-ordered my Vive =)
Same, I want VR but I'm pleased there is more than one choice, and I'm pleased they flunked theirs making other parties a better choice
Gen 2 and 3 sets will likely improve, lighter more efficient etc, nm the prices will drop. There is no race to vr its is just there.
What are Occulus Services? Is this the core software need by developers to create games and content for the hardware or is it some cheapo cut down anyone can download and use it software designed to get part timer coders and modders to create some software for this utter waste of f*cking time
