?

Which Memory do you recommend for my config ?

  1. Kingston HyperX Fury 2 X 8 GB DDR3, 1866 MHz, CL 10 (Item Code: HX318C10FBK2/16)

In the past i had 4Gb DDR2 of Corsair XMS memories (2x2gb dual channel kit) with a Gigabyte MA 770-UD3 and they where not OC friendly at all, if i raised the FSB even a little they would become unstable regardless what multiplier settings i used.... (replaced those with muskin ram and i could then use the FSB settings). Fast forward to today and right now i have a gigabyte 78LMT-S2PV motherboard (same sb chipset as the MA770-UD3) with an AMD FX4300 CPU and 8 Gb 1333 Mhz Kingston Value ram with an applied oc of 133 Mhz (they run at 1466 Mhz). I need that 133 Mhz OC applied to the new ram as well as i need the FSB tweaks to get my CPU to 4.6 Ghz. Which RAM do you think would be a safer bet ?

    Kingston HyperX Fury 2 X 8 GB DDR3, 1866 MHz, CL 10 (Item Code: HX318C10FBK2/16)

    Or

    Corsair Vengeance 2 X 8 GB DDR3, 1866 MHz, CL10 (Item Code: CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10R)

I included a pool but comments are always welcomed.

I didn't vote because I would say they are equally good.

In my personal rig I have Corsair Vengeance Pro 1886 CL9, I run then at 2133 CL10. Great RAM in my experience, but I can't knock the Kingston RAM, from what I've seen they are equally good.

Maybe it comes down to price?

Hmm... i think i'll go with the Hyper X since they are lower profile and i have a cooler master 212 plus. I would also feel safer since with Kingston so far the small OC worked good. Thanks for the help, out of curiosity which is better 1600 Mhz CL9 or 1866 Mhz CL10 ? Or does it make no difference ?

Go with the higher speed rated. The way the AMD memory controller works the difference would be negligible, but the higher speed would get better benchmarks, so arguably better.

Thank you, i pretty much decided on Hyper X hopefully they will be able to handle the extra 133 Mhz OC.

Sorry about the bump but i need some info on something:

I found a Kingston HyperX Savage 2x8 GB dual channel at 1866 Mhz and CL9 kit and i'm confused with AMD memory controllers... i've heard various infos that this ram where rated and tested with 4 Gb modules and at 1866... I want to OC them at 1999 Mhz and they are a kit of 2x8 Gb modules... Would they be compatible with my CPU ?

I'm asking because if frequency for example is a problem then i would go with Kingston HyperX Beast ram of 2x8 Gb at 1600 Mhz CL9.

Hey, where is the pool? :D I would say to get whatever one is cheaper as long as it is on the compatibility list of the mainboard you have.

Well there aren't really many memories on the compatibility list, for instance it says it supports up to 8Gb per stick but most ram in the compatibility list are up to 2 Gb. That said i'm even more confused now... i initially wanted to get the Kingston HyperX Savage 2x8 GB dual channel at 1866 Mhz and CL9 kit. Bust someone said that i should get 4x4Gb... That it would increase my OC chances (i need an extra 133 Mhz OC). The reason being because 4Gb sticks are lower density... but wouldn't populating all of my channels actually be worse ? since now i got to power up 4 sticks rather then just two ? Is OC really improved with 4x4 Gb rather then 2x8Gb ?

I think I'm over thinking about it. I will probably go and browse some stores today, see what they have on stock and if available i will get 1866 memory down clock it to 1600 and then apply the 133 oc. That should be pretty safe.
