Mercedes-Benz, one of the largest manufacturers of premium passenger cars, and NVIDIA, the global leader in accelerated computing, plan to enter into a cooperation to create a revolutionary in-vehicle... Mercedes-Benz and NVIDIA Partner Up to Build Advanced, Software-Defined Vehicles
And then they simply cut features you actually paid for *cough* Tesla *cough* As long as it's just about comfort features or entertainment, I can see this happening, but security? Better roll those out for free.. Nah, can't tell me there's much fancy about having to subscribe to a car's software.
But does it come with a complementary leather jacket??? Anyway..I don't like them (Mercedes). There is no joy in driving the sedans and a constant feeling that the car wants to kill you in their sport models... BMW and Nvidia...now that's entertainment.
Car's are slowly losing the "drivers" experience. Market compitition isn't high enough even tho our products r worse -AMD... Your Benz needs an update... 7.63gb/8gb used. upgrade memory to 16gb $1000 Circa 2030ad.. Incoming download.. 100gb 450/512gb used.. What is all this bloat? Why my car slowly getting less hp? Did apple devs get hired? #@$& my Benz o/s w/ micron memory artifact the other day. Maybe I'll slap some thermal grizzlies on that an make a 10hp tiktok video. Coil wine on my Benz failing vrm? I was streaming using default "driver experience" setting an my overlays crashed, abs flashed, all my sensors blew up and lane assist hit a VW. No doubt you'll spend more time dealing with the tech maintenance then being a real drivers car. Seems a real Pandora's box just for a luxury feature. I get it tho these business need to make $$ and be relevant.. if executed correctly tho a very good collab... But doubtss are high.
That happened a long time ago, at least in Europe: Noise & emission restrictions on one side and Electronic crap on the other side... You can't even get a proper manual except for a couple of models. Everybody is obsessed with laptimes and screens... Where is the fun in that?
MB and NVIDIA... why do I get the feeling next a time-traveling robotic assassin attempts to murder the leader of human resistance?
not sure Nvidia knows what they are going into lol fab quality control and norms are much more stringent for automotive than computer hardware, there can't be botched jobs like the 2080 release or they will lose hundreds of millions in damages from car companies and the governement for safety issues
Um... not sure if you're aware, but that's already happened. Tesla has legit DLC. For example, the extended driving range and I think autopilot are both DLC. In case people weren't aware, all cars are equipped with full-range batteries and autopilot tech, but you have to pay extra to use them. You can upgrade at any time from anywhere.
Thats why I bought a used 2010 Camaro SS and went to the trouble to import it into UK, to the dismay of all my German & French car supporter friends and going to grab a 1985-1987 Wrangler later in the year. People feel content with 1.5lt-1.6lt diesel engines, gazillion electronics and driving in a cocoon cut off from the road. I prefer a car that would put a smile on my face or I would be able to fix on my own while would need hammer, oil and fuel only if something goes wrong.
