doesnt matter, but i think LAV has better quality and might be more advanced. im not really shure.
im using LAVFilters, allways. and as renderer i mostly use madvr for movies, etc and MPC Video Renderer for watching youtube stuff in my MPCHC/BE...

    Best Regards...

Thanks for the info, actually had some trouble with the latest nV drivers (at least that's what I thought), while playing hdr (losing focus turns off hdr) which is really strange because never had that issue previously.
If I move the mouse down and touch the stop-play-pause etc. buttons, the movie fades out and when the mouse is moved higher is back to hdr again.
Same thing happens while playing a hdr movie on the tv, if on the monitor (monitor and tv extended display setup) the browser is opened in full screen, the hdr fades out on the tv.
Minimize, resize or close the browser - hdr is back on.
In case you have any tips regarding this issue, that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

what renderer are you using in MPCHC?
    wich filters and codecs?
im unshure, i dont use HDR myself and also windows 10 got problems some times with hdr, dunno if they fixed that to be honest.
If you want i can forward your Problem to the Developer and see what he thinks, if you dont have an account there.

heres a thread where HDR, Stability and Drivers gets discused.

if i see something ill let you know :)

    EDIT:

so it seems like your not the only one..
could you please tell me what your config is? form teh player that is.. madvr? LAV? etc..

    Thanks..

    edit:

has nothing to do with MPCHC, its Drivers and / or windows 10..
heres a list of known good drivers and bad ones.. and more info..

I use MPC-BE with MadVR, Lavfilters with D3D11 native mode. It seems that since installing Windows 20H2 update that the problem is not there anymore.

    Thank you for your answer.
I use lav and madvr with mpchc (Ryzen7 cpu, nV 2060Super, Sony tv, hdmi 2.0 cable).
You must be right, was almost sure that it's because of the nVidia drivers...
In windows 10 hdr is off, because it's set in mpchc/madvr to send hdr metadata to the tv and it surely does.
It's just a little problem when losing focus hdr turns off, but if the focus is on the player, then everything is ok (short version - cannot do much on the monitor if watching hdr movies on the tv).
    Take care.

    Edit:
On your link there was a hotfix driver, which (for now) solved the problem and I hope it will be alright in the future as well.
    Thank you for your help.

I installed this last night to try and fix a strange issue that doesnt really need fixing ... yet, and another issue that is annoying but is down to how the display reports its native res.
My display is the Samsung CRG9 ultrawide 5120x1440.

The annoying issue is caused by the display reporting its native res as 3840x1080, really stupid.
This makes videos in full screen mode (even those in games) be centred correctly but much smaller, black borders all round.
ie they never fill the full height (unless zoomed), except ...
Some videos have particular scenes that suddenly fill the full screen height, but when this happens they dont get wider.
As though it auto uses the correct height at last but the left and right edges are cut off, keeping the same width as the initial shrunken playback.
If I manually zoom the video to full height+width, when these same scenes play, they still zoom just as before so now are double zoomed causing the top/bottom and left/right edges to exceed the screen and play window size so are chopped off.
    wth?
This MPC-BE update has the same behaviour, it doesnt help.

The issue that doesnt need fixing yet:
When zooming video to completely fill the 5120 pixel width of the screen, before getting close to full width, GPU use jumps up massively and becomes very low framerate/jerky at full screen width.
CPU use is very low, my 1080ti is maxed out on GPU use at very close to max clock speed.
This new update doesnt help this either.

    Oh well :)
I spose I'm posting this to see if anyone has an idea how to correct wrong size playback with my screen.
And report what could become the foundation of other problems.

ps this version appears to otherwise be fine.

to be honest, ultra wide screens just arent meant for watching movies..

but maybe u can try overwriting teh res in the player options?
    res.PNG

if its not listed, your RES that is, try making and custom res via nvidia panel..
MADVR also has an option like this where you can override this behaviour and set what you need/want..

i wonder if this also happens with mpc-hc (from what it sounds liek it should e the same)
how do other player handle this? ZoomPlayer, VLC, mpv.net, etc..?

an article that descripes what i mean..
    https://pcmonitors.info/articles/games-movies-and-the-desktop-at-3440-x-1440/

fitting an 16:9 aspect ratio tv show or movie on an ultra wide
    DQHD super wide 32:9 1440 32:9 3.5 5120×1440
32:9 aspect ratio just doesnt work really without having black bars or material cut off... or bluryness for that matter since most upscalers in monitors and TV´s suck..
