Me too. Last time I was drunk was at my brother's wedding some 6 years ago! I prefer to blow my money on expensive graphics cards!
I usually don't drink, not because of some self discipline code or something, I just don't like the taste. There are some exceptions though like rum or other sweeter kinds/cocktails of alcohol wich I like and drink on very rare ocasions once or twice a year. As for smoking, I find it even less appealing... especially passive smoking wich I'm exposed to so often. uke2:
People tend to under-estimate the amount they drink. You should keep a diary for a week and see how much you are drinking. If you drink much more than 2 bottles per week (spread over 7 days), you are exceeding most conventional guidelines. If you are drinking close to a bottle per day, I would say you are verging on alcholism with a greatly increased risk of health problems in the long-term.
I'll usually have a 6 pack spread out over the week, used to drink more but now I focus the majority of my spare time on the kids and not drinking with buddies.
Basically I don't drink. Why bother? Beer is like dishwater, tastes bad and same goes to most wines (some taste like poison and damn the amount of slime I get in mah mouth, I can blow damn bubbles).
True and false. It's a well known fact that most alcoholic beverages (if not all) contain carcinogens - cancer causing ingredients / properties, so the more you take in, the more you increase a higher risk factor for health problems. One bottle a day would not put you on the verge of "Alcoholism" (would maybe class you as a casual / binge drinker) but the difference with being an alcoholic, is that you have no control over the amount you consume; like heavy drug users.
Have you tried "Malibu Rum," I swear it goes down waaay to easy; quite dangerous those types of drinks, really.
I get hungover like a crash car dummy, so I tend to delay drinking when I have things I need to get done. Uhm, scratch that.. I am the Queen of Procrastination and love getting drunk on Thursdays, because when you wake up hung over it feels like Sunday, but it's only Friday! Mental overload! Of course it is only a matter of time before my mind catches up on my plans. I am in the middle of final exams now though, which makes everyday a good drinking day.. Good thing it is summer soon, thus is my schedule cleared for drinking every day without dire consequences. So yes, in short form: Every chance I get.
Back in my undergrad days we were out getting hammered 4 times a week, 6 pints a night. Nowadays, maybe 1-2 pints a week, if that. On the odd special occasion I may drink (much) more, though .
One bottle per day is cetainly not casual drinking and nor is it binge drinking. Binge drinking is when somebody drinks heavily at the weekend but not during the week. The OP said that 1 glass often turns into a bottle, this very much sounds like a lack of control over what he drinks. I think this indicates a level of dependency on alcohol as well.
Gotta say hardly ever, maye once every few months at an event or party etc. My posien is Monster Rippers - I drink way too many...
