    I wish I could delete posts from my thread xD so many trolling bastards....
    Anyway, In respect of Mobile versions I has no intentions of being rude, I just made this thread and posted the 7000 Series specs but not the mobile as this wasn't my area of interest... I have nothing againt mobile versions though, I feel they have not advanced enough to make gaming on a laptop affordable nor comparable to desktops.
    Continuing with what was already said, the Mobile models releases look hideous :/
    I hope the 7950/70 are goo enough, if not, I'll just grab a 6970 or a 570 when they lower prices

    well they should brace themselves :)

    6990 performance rating ?? white man please

    I think performance will be all over the place.
    Like great in one set of apps/games and meh in other etc.

    Also 3GB to give some reassurance and sense of value

    Just a guess..

    HD 7950 = 5-10% faster than GTX 580
    HD 7970 = 15-20% faster than GTX 580

    Even with my low expectations I still doubt these cards will end up slower than a GTX 580.

    The GTX 580 is $100-150 overpriced...with the release of the HD 7950 ($350) & HD 7970 ($450) it will put the GTX 580 in it's rightful place..($350-$400 range)..

    5-10% faster than previous generation is a nvidia trick - here we have new, 28 nm chips:nerd:
    Remember fermi with locked CUDA cores :wanker:

    People can complain about rebranding, but you have to be a little realistic about it!

    The number of GPU's they produce is quite a few, especially considering desktop and mobile variants. You may say, well the gpu's are modular, and you are correct! You could make every GPU in the desktop range out of the HD7970, but chips take time to produce, even the lower end chips :). If all were to move to 28nm, it would mean either the purchase of additional 28nm tech which will end up going under fully-utilised when the 'rush' has finished to cope with capacity, or make a limited number of every chip and make it difficult for people to purchase, and potentially much more expensive and drive people to your competition.

    On the other hand, by further utilising the current tech, it takes the strain off the 28nm process when there is the rush, and further value-adds the purchasing of that tech. It also mean less under-utilised time of that tech. End result = much cheaper for us.

    Once the rush is over, on the 'refresh', demand is lower and they can move the rest of the chips to the new process.

    A lot of calculations done so far seem quite off, ofcourse we shall only know when the products are thoroughly tested but it is believed (and generaly the case) that the 7970 will perform on par with a hd 6990, that's around 160-180% the performance of a GTX 580 and the hd 7950 will be 10-15% behind, so we are looking at atleat 150-160% more than the current top performing single card based on these assumptions.

    The real power of these cards should be apparent at high resolutions of above 1080p/eyefinity/3d, that's also where the 'high-end' cards should perform the best. Not long for the reviews now.

    $350 for a card faster then $500 GTX 580?

    that would be sweet, but I doubt AMD would go that aggressively with the pricing
    It's not like they have loads of cheap chips that they have to sell asap.

    it's quite contrary actually

    stop editing ffs :)

    no kidding
    if that is the case i will be getting a 7950, that would be one heck of a upgrade for my 5850.

    I think that the 7950 will be some 10-15 % faster than the 580 and 7970 some 20-30.My intuition speaks here BTW.

    If these are $350 and these are up to 80% faster than a GTX580 and out at the beginning of January when I’m in the US then I will get one without hesitation.

    Firstly, I think people are being abit over enthusiastic though, especially when the exact same things were said about the 6970.
    Everyone claimed it would be as fast as a 5970, even when leaked benchmarks said otherwise.
    Even with these moving to 28nm I find it hard to believe it will be faster than a 6990 in any game that has good scaling.

    Secondly, why would AMD bring out something that is so much faster than the competition, but price it so cheap?
    While AMD are know as a company for better value, it’s not been that much better value recently.

    Tahiti XT/7970 ($449) < HD6990
    Tahiti PRO/7950 ($349) > GTX580

    6990 = 6970+80%
    6990 = GTX580+60%

    7970 = 6970+70%
    7950 = 6970+50%

    Not sure about the prices tho..

    No lol funny you chose to respond to only my comment

    It's actually very easy to assume from the already released info that the 7970 will be about twice as fast as the 6970.

    We already have the data for the number of CU's, ROP's and TMU's which added to a more refined architecture easily indicate a massive jump in performance from current AMD designs. Similar to G70 -> G80 type of performance jump.
