Hello fellow Guru's, For 2 days i've been having issues with Google Chrome on my windows 10 desktop. When i start up my pc and launch Chrome i can browse for about 30 seconds before i get the DNS probe error and eventually network timeout error. It then takes 5-10 minutes before my internet access returns. After that its all working properly again. This ONLY happens in Chrome. I can use Edge and IE without issues. I tried various things i found online, but there is no solution i could find. - 8888 - 8844 Google DNS (using default) - Malwarebyes - flush DNS - completely reinstall chrome - router factory reset -Updating windows 10 I've had this issue as well a couple years ago and i ended up reinstalling windows.
No luck Hilbert. I don't think its an actual DNS issue. I feel like this is some sort of virus going on that gets triggered by Chrome only. Other browsers are all working fine. Malwarebytes didn't pick anything up, however about 1,5 weeks ago i noticed Chrome spiking 100% cpu. So malwarebytes then found some threats and i removed it. Now im getting this crap with chrome and i can't figure it out. I've had this similar issue before, except then i would get random 10 min timeouts, also triggered by chrome. Untill now it remains a mystery to me.
Weird, any extensions installed/running? Remove them. Also obviously clear your cache and history. Reinstall or not, there might be residuals in the directories. You can also try the latest chrome beta to get a few builds ahead: https://www.google.com/chrome/beta/
Today the timeout issue has resolved itself. I don't know what happened. but its all working again. Thanks for the help anyway!
Chrome had some security issues in the last couple of weeks. Probably you were vulnerable and the patch solved it. Do your updates come in automatically?
I concur with Hilbert and Extraordinary......still worth taking a good look at extensions and making sure you don't still have something funny running.
