Initial support (mainly developers and such being interested in this.) for the next major Open GL version 4.0 and the next iteration of Open GL 3 (3.3), I'm not a graphics programmer or anything like that but basically 3.x of Open GL uses Shader Model 4 functionality and can be somewhat compared to DX10/DX10.1 of D3D whereas 4.0 seems to use SM 5.0 and is somewhat comparable to DX11 of Direct3D.

Adds early support for most of the major extensions to support this although for games I don't know a single one that uses Open GL 3 though perhaps RAGE will show what it can do but I'm not certain it's using OpenGL or if it's D3D.

Also helps consoles as Microsoft owns DirectX and their X-Box is the only platform using it (Xenon or DirectXBox or whatever else it might have been called.) whereas PS and most others use a form of OpenGL although you'd need a new console (New GPU for it.) to add support for GL 3.0 and 4.0
(Future console generations, shader model 5 techniques and stuff like Direct Compute could really help there as far as I see it for offloading GPU or CPU tasks and pushing visuals further, things are a bit stale at the moment due to the age of current console hardware so it should be quite a jump whenever Sony and Microsoft and whatever else might be planned will release their next generation console platforms.)

(Might unfortunately create a gap as games will be quite a bit more demanding suddenly, although by now PC development is moving forward very quickly even for mid end systems you can get great performance at a decent price.)

Fully supported is kind of a joke considering they don't even support opengl 2.0 as it should... still i guess its better then nothing...

ATI is owned by AMD, why would ATI make CPUs?

Two things I noticed with these drivers:

1 frame rates jumped from 34 to 53
2 have this silly driver that loads on startup

    ** name of driver: ATIModeChange | Ati2mdxx.exe

also updated the chipset drivers to 10.3

Did clean installs, express uninstall plus DriverSweeper, but, this doesn't remove the settings from CCC which is whacked.

I'm sitting here reading the specs again for this VidCard
    MSI: R5670

It claims to support OpenCL, OpenGL 3.2, and DirectCompute 11

When I run, GPUZ and the DirectCompute & OpenCL Benchmark tools
All that this checked is DirectCompute 5.0.???

    What's up with that?

    DirectCompute 5.0 for Directx 11.

The card has OpenCL support but you need to download and install ATI Stream SDK v2.01 with OpenCL to be able to use it.

Neither OpenGL or DirectX are listed in GPU-Z. Try GPU Caps Viewer.

    thanks sideeffect,

heckava time trying to find SDK 2.01 had to go way over to timbuktu after wrapping around the globe a few times..

do I need SDK 2.0 first or can go clean to 2.01?

Also, there's brand new version of Caps View. 1.8.6 which i just downed.

And, the DirectCompute + OpenCL Benchmarking unit .45b is there a newer version for this one? | [ I think it's a bit outdated 12/09]

    Thanks again

Just download the SDK v2.01 (registration required on site) and install.

    DirectCompute0.45b is the latest version.

I like this driver package, seems to work well so far. Had a GSoD when using DXVA but that might be a missed powerplay setting in the bios I flashed over last week. Gotta look into it but too lazy atm and enjoying playing borderlands at 5760x1200.

I installed the opengl driver over the 10.3a version and ran into issues. I loaded up Metro 2033 and my fps was locked at 30fps. I disabled vsync from D3Doverrider and Ati Tray Tools but no joy. I also had black borders around the screen. I exited the game and went back to the desktop where I saw black borders there too. Also the mouse movement was very jerky.

I rolled back to the 10.3a driver and while installing I checked out the monitor properties to find that the refresh rate had been set to 29hz? Everything is fine now. Maybe a slight glitch in the opengl driver installation? I might try the opengl driver again in a few days. Right now I just want to keep on gaming.

Does this fix Open GL on Il-2 Sturmovik?

Also, do these also include drivers? So can I just uninstall my current drivers and just install this? Or do I have to first install catalyst version then this.

What? What is this "AMD" thing? Some new ATi's architecture? Wasn't called Northen Islands? I got lost since they droped the "RVxxx" nomenclature... [/just sarcasm, don't say that im stupid :)]

I want XP x64 drivers, thats all i wanted to say... Well, that and great for OpenGL, they've got a lot of angry people after OpenGL 3.0 and all its deprecated features...

Thanks for the site, have something to bookmark for future.

the other sites listed on Google were all, 'dead'.

I finally found the driver, on a megaupload storage from some kind soul.

thanks again, this is a keeper.

the othersite that was listed, should be 'blacklisted' from search engines and point to the new site.
