Asus launched a new version of its thin RoG Zephyrus S gamelaptop. The GX531 is equipped with up to a GTX 1070 Max-Q video card and is 15.75mm thick. Asus fits the Zephyrus GX531 with a Core i7-875... Asus Launches 16mm thin GTX 1070 Max-Q enabled gamelaptop
It would be kind of pointless buying a new laptop now, when in 2-3 months there will most likely be laptops with the GTX 2080, 2070 and 2060 graphics cards inside.
If you get the laptop for a good price than no it would not be pointless. Plus if your going on a long trip and need a gaming laptop for portability.
There is no way in hell those price gougers will sell that laptop for a good price. I'm guessing it will cost 2000 bucks easily.
I really don't like these 'Max Q' GPU's. They're a marketing con job, a 1070 Max Q is barely faster than a full fat mobile 1060, certainly not worth the extra $200-$300 it puts on the price of a laptop.
If it is priced accordingly and lower performance is just due to lower clock for power efficiency reasons... I bet OC of mobile GPUs and VBIOS modding is still a thing.
But the vast majority of people buying these do not over clock. They are buying it based on the 1070 vs. 1060.
The pictures aren't all from the same laptop. The last picture has the keyboard in a different position.
