Intel fan boys will still find some kind of a flaw though.

I knew skipping the 3950X and waiting for the 5950X would be great... hmm kinda can't wait :)

Exactly , usless CPU , AMD can't pull it again , doesn't clock beyond magic 5GHz barrier . It won't be good for gaming , sorry folks!

It still scores 400pts less in mt than my 2700x 5200 vs 4800, st is far superior 480 vs 640.

Thats why i dont want a 6core but an 8core than i can call it an upgrade.

Wow that´s pretty fast. I would not be surprised if sometime in future Intel and nvidia may, or even may have to unite, to compete against AMD... AMD just rules right now, at least if you look at the pure benchmark numbers....very exciting times for CPUs AND GPUs....thank you AMD !!!!!

    That price though... a 50% increase over 3600 @ $199 (let's just ignore the useless 3600X @ $249).
Value oriented gamers should still flock to 3xxx models or 10600K.

Price/performance will be still good , few days more and we will know , but the price doesn't 'Look' that premium here. INTEL used to take much more for 4c/8t, not soo long ago.

Go for the 12-core directly ... best price per core !
Yes it's more expensive, but it's unlikely you will upgrade again in the next 2-3 years.
And it gives 50% more cores (and performance) for only higher 22% price, and more cache per core than the 8-core single-die, more IF total bandwidth, double total cache... yea, there are no drawbacks, really !

What's $100 if you spread it over 36 months ? Less than the price of a coffee cup @ starbucks.

I will get the 5900X for sure, even if I am 100% aware I have no use right now for those 12 cores, barely using 8 now ( the stuff I do would run just as fine on a 6-core ).
But who knows, few months in the future I might start learning Blender or doing other compute-heavy stuff... then I'll kick myself for not going for the 12-core.

Yeah being spoiled by my 3700x I have to consider the 5900x but at least it’s just a drop in and go thing but then again I’m using the wraith prism.

I'm sad about the sharp price increase and hope Intel doesn't keep launching 14nm BS, we need competition.
I wanted to upgrade to maybe 5600 but I'll hold my horses until later.

Prices are OK when you get new tech. You get more performance with new navi rdna2 gpus, something never ever happened before. You can't demand better life at same price as an inferior product. New AMD combos bring a next gen console inside our PCs. We can already have a PS6/XSX2.
