I recently updated my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (GT-P5210) to Lineage OS 14.1 with Android 7.1.2.

Not sure why Samsung never updated past 4.4.2 cuz it works just fine.

I was tired of waiting the Oreo upgrade for my S8+.
I flashed Google Edition Android O (ZRA5) [Beta 6] yesterday, it's smooth and fast.
You can choose to install or not the Samsung bloatware and which one.

Well, they claim hardware incompatibility and what not. They'll never admit it but common sense dictates that Samsung (and all other companies) like outdated smartphones, so you will purchase a new and more secure one in that nice 2-year cycle.

TBH I am relieved that my Galaxy S6 and Tab S2 are NOT getting Oreo.

Because I'd die waiting for official OTA update

Well yea the S7 is still on 7.0 because they haven't rolled 8.0 out yet, it's only just finished beta stage for the S8, flagships always get their updates first, got the S7 myself

Samsung always push 3 different versions of Android to their devices, S7 started on Marshmallow 6, Now on Nougat 7 and will get Oreo 8

If your Samsung phone is not on the list get Lineage.
    I have Android 7 on my S3.

I have it on my OnePlus 5 for a while. Can't say I noticed much difference from 7, because the phone was super snappy and fast even before the update.

Well, S8 with their own Exynos CPU doesn't have the update listed yet (beta or not)
Only the Snapdragon version has it.

But not complaining... it works blazing fast in anything I've thrown at it so far so all good.
    When it comes, it comes.

I was on 7.0 in 2016 and i'm still on it. It hasn't gone to 7.1 or 7.1.1 ect which we were promised nearly a year ago

Samsung never/rarely go above the initial release version other than on I think T-Mobile, maybe other US variants I remember with the S5

Dunno who promised you 7.1.1 but it wasn't Samsung, probably some n00b Samsung social media employee who hasn't got a clue

Probably should do some research on Samsung updates before posting ;)

S8 Oreo testing is still going on ATM, no idea when it will end. Even if the rumored list mentions other phones, there is no telling when they will get it. it could very well be when the next android will be announced lol
I'm doing fine with a 7.1.1 note8 port for my s7 edge. no way i could ever go back to stock nougat.

I guess Samsung has just a one person working on firmware since it takes more than half a year to compile it.

I guess for the kind of users that comes over this forum and like android, lineageOS is more than ok.
I flashed it on the oneplus2, that was stuck at android 6, ( and the worst oneplus ever made ), and after a couple of bad builds happened in january, now to me look very good.
Dual sim support from oxygenOS was a little bit better IMHO

Why does the a3 get oreo and my s6 edge not? Is it simply because its a business oriented phone?
