One day, the keyboard on my mom's Acer travelmate 2310 decided to just die. I took it apart, reconnected it and tested it in BIOS, it worked fine. But when I booted into windows it stopped working again. I did a complete reformat and reinstall, and it still doesn't work. Can someone explain how this could happen? I've never seen anything like this before.
does an external keyboard work? seems to be a BIOS issue, try google or updating to the latest BIOS. maybe you bumped a bios setting? there also could be a key on the laptop that disables the keyboard.
Check to see if USB Legacy Support is enabled in the BIOS, the keyboard might need it. Laptop keyboards and touchpads sometimes need specific services running in Windows, have you disabled any recently?
External keyboards work, so does the touchpad. And I reinstalled windows, so I don't think disabling services is the problem.
