Nah, I killed the hotkey poller and upped the voltage and clocked to stock 3D. 2.3s/frame now

I downloaded the SMP (a different folding client apparently). Is there a non-beta one? I don't think mine is working. Here's a screenie of the client. I started it last night and its been running for maybe 8 hours. Should it be showing something else?

Don't forget you have to run install.bat (and no, there is no non-beta)

It should have shown some progress, is it using your CPU?

I was away some time now. After vacation I installed Linux (just come to love Kubuntu) and had some problems with it (I'm 100% Linux N00B :D) . But I just installed F@H and am folding again

Of course my A64 @ 2,9 is no monster compared to those C2Ds but it may help a bit.

Btw. Why is it I never get 100 % CPU usage while running F@H on Linux? My old Celeron 950 Mhz will never have more than 90 % and my A64 uses 95-98 %

Why don't you run the GPU client then? It's much faster! I can do 1 WU in ~15 hours

Yeah, I recomend you running the GPU Client over the CPU Client, because your GPU will outperform that CPU. :)

It won't, it only connects to upload results and d/load new WU's otherwise there is no net access required.

    Welcome to the fold btw

If you have run install.bat, did you choose to run F@H as a service?

I ran install.bat. An error came up, but the program started to run (well, I got this screen anyway. Will the GPU client run alongside the CPU client? Which one do you recommend? (I've a BFG 7800GTX and an E6870.) I'll try the SMP client again while I wait for an answer. (I've also got it running on the spare computer in the bedroom and my work tablet).

It looks as if the smpd service hasn't been installed (that's the part that governs the distribution of work amongst the cores). When you ran the Install.bat were you logged in as an administrator?

If you want to be certain that this is the problem do this:
    1. Click on start -> run
    2. In the box type "services.msc" (without the "")
    3. Look for a service called "MPICH2 Process Manager, Argonne National Lab". This is the smpd service I mentioned earlier.
    4. If you can't see it then the service didn't install at all. If you can see it, check to see if it is listed as "Started" and if not right-click on it and hit 'Start'.

As far as I know the GPU client *will* run alongside the cpu clients BUT only on ATI graphics cards. I believe that's because a) There are more shaders in the ATI cards and b) They are versatile / not dedicated. i.e. you won't be able to run the GPU client, despite the 7800GTX being a beast of a card.

I have put the PS3 to task again. Will add at least one other PC at home, C2D E6400 @ 3GHz more than likely. :)
