Heres a few of my first ever attempt at long-exposure, all i have is a simple Sony CyberShot 6mp thing, not touched them up at all just the raw photos taken off the camera. Not bad considering!

Ones of the roundabout i climbed onto the roof of a hotel, the dual carriageway one i was stood in a deathtrap of a pavement :)

A 100% crop from part of the photo hence the lack of overall sharpness:

It doesnt matter about your ability, its about showing photos that you are proud that you took.
Even the worlds best at anything, couldnt do it at some point in their life.

I finally took the plunge and bought a D-SLR. I've been wanting to start amateur photography for many years but wasn't sure if it was a hobby I'd be good at or enjoy.
Anyway, yesterday I bought the Nikon D90 with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX kit lens. I spent most of yesterday reading, learning and playing, then I took the family out for a scenic walk.

Here's my results from my first shots (I've cropped and downsized the images in photoshop)

This is my favorite one of my daughter, Lucy.

All these pictures were shot in auto/landscape/portrait mode with not much input from myself and without filters (they're in the mail). I think they're pretty good for my first effort.

I think this is a hobby i'm really going to enjoy and i'm already looking forward to getting out next weekend.

Thanks Finch. I'm really starting to love photography. Its amazing that a bunch of old coins could look so good. Just got myself a Hoya UV filter to make sure I don't damage my lens.

Just by having a look round the home, its amazing what you can find to photograph.
I have just taken several photos of my new motorbike boots, and want to have a try at product photography.
I will post my results when finished.

great shots gary, your gonna fall in love with it, but it's really expensive.. trust me.. and ya guys i agree i love photography, but theres times when i hate it too.. you know those days when nothing seems to focus, or the lighting is just terrible.. and also i've discovered a liking to film, and the darkroom, so much more rewarding than digital

Cheers Funkgab. I am starting to love it. I had a look at lenses already and my god they are expensive. My Grandad has a SLR camera ( this is what got me interested in photography ) with a few lenses and if I remember correctly it is a canon so I might see if his old film SLR lenses fit my new DSLR.
