Solution for after 13.4 driver backlight problem - Mobility Radeon

Many people are having the problem - mainly happening on ASUS notebooks with discreet AMD graphics - that drivers newer than Catalyst 13.4 are failing to turn on the notebooks LCD backlight.

The solution worked for me and many others is the following:

Start Regedit registry editor and add/change key like this

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000]
"KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface2"=dword:00000001

if the key exists with value 1 already, maybe setting to 0 will help.

 

I have this problem on HP G62-a14ER.
