depends on FirePro_8.54_WinXP32_69689 released on 10/22:
    "ATI FirePro V8700 (FireGL)" = ati2mtag_R7XGL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9456
so V8700 should be RV770 GLXT.

    need a scripts for this.

    Hello,
This is my first post on this forum. I was searching for a benchmark on google, I found this topic and i regged :)
    My Hardware
    q9550
    P45/ICH10R
    8gig ddr2
    2x320gig ncq disk raid0
    4870
    etc.
    My Software;
Vlited Vista ultimate x64 total installed size 1.2gig smaller than default xp sp3! ;)
    3dsmax 2008 & 2009 x32 & x64
    etc...
Thanks for your good jobs i want to try this softmod thing but everybody says this scripts for xp x64 this means it won't work for me? or it may work? I just wanted to ask.
Btw use vista x64 or x32 np You will see programs can use your ram for working faster in vista... I have a work it has 1,5million vertices with too many textures too many reflections.... xp x64 still frame render time 3hours 21mins, vista x64 2hours 54mins...
xp x64 supports 4gb rams with a simulation vista supports 128gb in real xp's max pagefile size is 4096mb vista's i really dont know but i have 2 20000mb(20gigx2) pagefiles :) think about it i know these i just wanted to tell :) Don't hate vista just close UAC then it will be ok or make lighter like me with vlite... its really boots faster opens applications/files faster just remove the stupid things then it will work for you :)
    Thank you.

Someone made an experimental script for vista before but nobody really did carry on with the actual development work as much as it is for xp32 or xp64.. so it won't work for you regardless of your vista32 or vista64.

Patch does not work for 4xx0 series yet.

The patch is for Radeon 1xxx,2xxx,3xxx series for time being.

Understand, Now i'm getting around 400fps with empty screen with 3dsmax and nearly 1,5million vertices slows down to 32fps what you get around these numbers these firegl cards makes faster your screen to work if you cant rotate 1,5million vertices you can't model another thing on it... they can handle more number of vertices polygons etc thats all about these cards am i right? :nerd:

Can i beg you Khogan112 and Gellmar to look a bit into the Vista X64 patchscript, please???

I have been forced to install vista to work (videogames...you know what i mean :s :p ) and today i bought a 4870 with 1024 GDDR5, i'm very pleased about it's performance in 3ds max with D3D and XSI with openGL...it's A LOT better than the 8800GTX of course, but if you can look a bit on this i'll be very pleased and you'll help me a lot.

    Thanks!

Juang3D, I can not do it.

Because I simply do not know what to do. Maybe schoko and gellmar can do it. I hope they can, because I have 2 4870 s waiting for modding :(

    Thanks for your reply khogan112.

Then that left our posibilities to shocko and Gellmar.

    Can you do that?

Thanks people for your hard work.

FirePro v8700 vs FireGL v700 performance...

    Here is the link :
    http://www.3dprofessor.org/Reviews Folder Pages/i7/i7P11.htm

Now compare them to the following :
    http://www.spec.org/gwpg/gpc.data/vp10/summary.html

    http://www.spec.org/gwpg/apc.data/specapc_sw2007_summary.html

From these figures all I can see is :

The difference between FireGL v7700(HD 3870) and FirePro v8700(HD 4870) is only for proe-04 and sw-01 tests. Those two tests were the weakest points against QuadroFX cards; now ATI has improved these areas.

So, I can conclude that V8700 is on par with Quadro FX 4600; but not so big performance increase against HD 3870 mod.

I think we will need 4xxxx mods to get a balanced OpenGL power and HD 38xx series will phase out.

    Thanks.

I'm not so sure... they're using a core i7 in this system, and that can also affect performance quite a lot... specially in those two benchmarks!!

look at the results on the (also very interesting by itself) firepro v5700 (profied-HD4670) review:
    http://www.3dprofessor.org/Reviews Folder Pages/V5700/V5700P8.htm
doubling the proccessor count has an effect quite like what you're seeing in the v8700 review

to me, it looks like a firepro v8700 is not much faster than a firepro v5700 (HD4670) or a v7700 (HD3870)

with these results, I will only buy a 48XX if I want to play games, otherwise my 3870 or a 4670 (if it is eventually moddable) will do

now, some bug fixes would be very much welcome, so there's still a lot of interest in modding newer drivers

    Core i7 is really amazing.

I attended an Intel demonstration. It included a Core i7 940 CPU, Intel X58 mobo , a 9800gtx VGA card ad 4 GB DDR3 RAM. The performance is really very very good. I also witnessed a system with two Core2 Quad Extreme QX9770 processors, and I can tell you : I would get Core i7 over that system.

yes, core i7 looks really nice... and surprisingly right away there's a not really that expensive model... but motherboards and memory are really expensive, more than twice what I would normally spend on good good quality components

maybe in january, when I'll have to buy yet another PC...

    hello all,

I have read all this but i'm still not understanding everything.
I have a i7920 system on vista64 running pretty fine. The card is a HD4850 1Gb from Asus. Can i softmod it to a firegl ? what is exactly the procedure ? (rivatuner ? drivers ?)

sorry if it's the wrong thread.... but help would be really appreciated :)

no, you can't softmod because it is not possible for HD4XXX cards yet

And another reason of not being able to use the softmod is because you are using vista.
