Depends, I've always used Quake / UT instagib as a way to improve my twitch aim for games like CS and BF. I had this special warmup routine on LAN where I'd do a circular map with more godlike bots than I could handle. Near the end of a 20 minute session you sort of got "in the zone" and started landing every single shot getting multikill, holy sh!t, ... Then you bought a cup of coffee at the lan bar, load up CS or BF = profit. Personally I'm not a big fan of the item pickups in team based matches (I don't mind it in 1vs1). I tried playing some tournaments on clanbase in UT, but you're much more reliant on your teammates compared to BF or CS. Grab flag: Get surrounded by translocators in UT (that imo was the final nail in the coffin for me to ruin it in UT, those translocators).

I love me some UT, but that's always one thing I hated about that game - translocators. Let's not face any battle with skill, weapons and precision, let's just throw some little POS into the air and escape. Arena shooter escapism at its finest. Very nice, but it may be a bit early for benches! There is clearly a lot of optimizing left to be done in QC. That much is clear when the game is using nearly 8G of video RAM before you even load a map... lol. Seems to me there may be some huge memory leak. I'm sure they're aware of it, as optimization typically takes place later in the development process.

I just played 2 solo DM matches. Lost the first, Won the second (by getting Quad twice). However, I think hit-detection still needs some work. I like the fact they've unlocked all the champions now. If you need to get arthitis, then, this is one of those kind of games.
Zero, although I haven't attempted to get any either lol. I've only auto-switched to gauntlet when I ran out of ammo for a real weapon. I should give it a try one round just for s&g's and to see if it feels anything like Q3A or QL. Btw, I have one beta code available if anyone wants in. I played a bunch last night. Boy do I suck! I'm older and not as in tune with this game like I was Quake 3 Arena, but I'm having a ton of fun. I didn't think I would like the experience system and the special attacks, but so far, they don't seem intrusive enough to be an issue. I would hope epic takes a good look at this game to develop UT4 into a direction that isn't running directly into a wall.
