I just got my 280x today. My comp keeps shutting off every time I play demanding games. It just shut off twice within 2-5 minutes when I was playing Red Faction Armageddon. I have to flip the PSU on/off switch every time it happens just to get my computer to start back up. I ran prime95 for a couple of hours and no problems. 835w, 62A on the +12v rail, 80+ bronze OP, try some different games and some benchmarks, like 3Dmark and Unigine ones.
Could be the PSU... could be the game... could be the temp... could be a lot of things. Take eclap's suggestion and try some other things.
Yep, I wouldn't trust it. It's made by Andyson, and they'e never made anything that isn't awful. I highly recommend replacing it.
To me it sounds like dying psu as well, change it for something newer with at least silver 80+. btw, Redfaction Armagedon is a big cpu bottleneck, I mean with my old Q9450@3.6ghz I got 40ish fps drops, now with i7 4770k @ 4.7ghz almost the same fps drops??! Gpu usage drops as well in that time, no vram bottleneck.
Just switched back to my old Antec Earthwatts 750w. No problems. I only got a new PSU because the fan was making this little noise. Not that it was a big deal. Guess I'll just return the Raidmax get a new PSU some other time.
Good call. I swear by Antec for PSU's. That and Enermax. My EA500 I have I bought back in 2009. Every now and then just take a can of air and blow it out. As a rule of thumb actually just blow out everything in your tower at least once per month...
Last PSU I had fail was an Antec....actually, the only units I've ever had fail were both Antec units. Even they have some garbage units.
