still a lot of money But....stop doing business with a country that hates you/ rips you off at every chance it gets.

 

They don't really care, because they make huge profits....

Honestly, I don't see this as such a bad thing. With such a major loss, there's no way Micron should have any excuse for DRAM shortages.

 

As of 2018-7-6, Dram manufactured today has a 80% failure rate. There goes my price break...

 

A court judgement without allowing any defence from the accused party. All suspect are guilty, otherwise they wouldn't be suspects, huh.

 

There has been no court judgement in this case as of yet. You may wanna search for:

1. preliminary injunction
2. ex parte

 

With the announcement of homegrown Epyc equivalent processors in China it seems obvious they are going ahead with their homegrown semiconductor manufacturing by taking a shortcut and simply appropriating the facility from Micron. The injunction is merely the first step in them simply deciding that the damages caused by the price fixing lawsuit that the Chinese govt. has also brought will be for them to be given the facilities. This will allow them another leg up in their pursuit of dominating yet another world market with their cheap labor and government subsidized manufacturing systems. They will beat their 2025 goal by several years if they pursue this to its logical (from their point of view) end.
Microns best bet is to remove any and all equipment that they can that will benefit the Chinese and then wipe any and all software from that which they can't remove. Then simply render that equipment useless to the Chinese. This would have the end result of forcing them to go back to their normal ways of acquiring tech by stealing it, which can at least be guarded against if not stopped.

 

Big difference for Micron when they are still stopped from operating by a court order, which they couldn't affect.
