No-no that's not a typo. Hynix announced that it has developed 2GbGigabit DDR4 DRAM and DDR4 DRAM based 2GBGigabyte ECC-SODIMMError Check &amp Correction Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Module...

    Awesome news. but i hate how they compare DDR4 2400mhz to DDR3 1333mhz and say its 80% faster. do a 2400 vs a 2400.

maybe by speed they will be made.
    Ddr 3 1066, 1333, 1600 ect.
    ddr4 maybe 2000, 2400, 2800 ect.
If you get what i mean.

I don't see the issue? That is 80% faster. What they are saying is that it transfers data twice as fast (DDR3 Vs DDR4), and is clocked 80% faster on top of that (2400MHz Vs 1333MHz).

My biggest question is the latency ... the jump between DDR2 to DDR3 was huge...

being clocker 80% faster doesn't mean 80% speed.
When the ram tech is new, latency is way too high and kill speed.
It was like that on DDR2 , DRR3, and latency shall be high with ddr4.

Same here ^.^, might just skip DDR3 all together and wait for 2012 DDR4!

Im also curious about latency... I hope it didnt jump up again : /

Er, yes it does. They are comparing apples to apples.

Bringing oranges in to it will of course affect the real world performance, but they never said anything to the contrary.

Although I do agree that the latencies are going to be very interesting. Doesn't look good that they didn't mention any.

GDDR4 was a a flop in GPU market so why dont just skip it and go DDR5 for mobos.
Also, all memory factorys make already "DDR5" so its a waste to move slower old tech.
Basic idea of GDDR and DDR is identical. GDDR is just made for GPUs.

    Marketing hype i quess.

I was just getting used to DDR3...Netbooks even have them now thanks to AMD.
Almost perfect timeframe though as I'm about to get rid of this PC, then two more years I'll be on a DDR4 rig.

I am still stuck on DDR2 on my desktop but ive upgraded my Netbook and AW m11x with faster DDR3.
What interests me is this.....wont they hit a wall with the memory in the same way the CPU's did?
