i think its great they are doing research into this, rather than pouring money into pointless green technology that does the opposite of what its supposed to do

Anything that gives us knowledge can't be a bad thing IMO. Just wish it wasn't so damn costly. Very impressive technology though.

    Just so you know,

    7 TRILLION electron volts= 1.1215235x10^-6 J (joules)!! Which is nothing :D
Or the equivalent of how much energy would be released if you convert 1.2x10^-23 kg to energy....

So no the world isn't coming to an end :D

It's approximately the energy of a mosquito in flight according to bbc news, and the energy of a eurostar train, travelling at max speed according to lhc.ac.uk. The difference being though, is that a mosquito is made up of many more particles than the beams that are sent around. Hence why these beams travel at over 99.99% of the speed of light.

Also were a black hole to be created, it would be extremely small, and would dissipate near instantly, much faster than it could effect any of us. Also it's important to remember that black holes aren't actually holes... they're just extremely dense, and so have very high gravity. But if you were a million miles away from a black hole, or a planet, and both had equal mass, there would be no difference. Both would have the same gravity, except at extremely close proximity, when things go weird, to put it scientifically. I don't really understand them, but I understand there's nothing to fear.

Also feel free to correct me on any points I got wrong, I'm only repeating what I've read or heard myself.

Yeah we know all that, the thing is, we have a fail blog full of people failing daily, if one of those theories were to fail... it would not be fun....

Wow, now that you put it like that... It's a shame that were a black hole to kill us all, it'd be instantaneous. It's be cool it if we had like 10 seconds or something, and we all got redirected to failblog, where we saw a post saying that their estimations were wrong, and then BAM!

Well, not BAM... But I don't know what onomatopoeia is appropriate for dieing in a black hole.
