Are these normal temps, because my old MSI gtx 295 where iddle mostly 55 60c and load 75 max my Gigabyte gtx 460 SLI setup gets over 85c in gaming under load is that normal ? my case gets very hot to almost finger burning style, the bottom GPU1 one on everest is idle 65c while GPU2 on iddle is 52c and under load they get both over 80-85 c do i have to worry ore are these temps normal ? ps sorry for my bad english
From what I have heard of the 460s that seems very hot. Do you have good air flow in your case? May need to adjust placement or add another.
i got one 120 mm front, one 120 mm back and i think one 50mm up the chase, i am just worried that those cards burn my mainbord lol, when i played metro 2033 few hours ago, my pc chase where really getting hot under the bottom, i hadnt this heat problem before with my single 295 , but i know its getting hotter with two graphics cards, but finger burning thats not normal lol, when i touch the case from the side bottom
How much have u OC'd? What's the fan speed you're running at? No side fan? I would highly recommend a side fan for SLI. Also how much of a gap between the two cards? Are they sandwiched together?
no there,s room between them, like 1 slot between size and i did not oc anything, those cards are stock overclocked to 715 my CPU is not overclocked neither and i got a Kandalf Thermaltake case Black
GTX460s have a very good both idle and full load temps. Man this case dont have a fan to bring cold ar to inside o.o , I think this is the problem. - Rear (exhaust) : 120 x 120 x 25 mm blue LED fan, 1300 rpm, 17 dBA; 90 x 90 x 25 mm, 1800 rpm, 19 dBA - Top (exhaust) : 90 x 90 x 25 mm, 1800 rpm, 19 dBA 3 Exhaust only. WaterCooled system? My mistake , the case with the radiator have 3 intake fans , but i think it dont make a good air flow to the SLI.
Do you have the fan speed set to auto? If so try setting it to 75% or so and see if that helps. I normally run my cards at 100% when I game so the temps stay down and go down faster when I am done. When I am just on the desk top I usually have it at 80% at least. I do not like heat! lol Main reason I got rid of my 260 and ordered a 460.
yes always auto, i think my case is not the problem, its a very solid good airflow case, but on the other hand, i have a second card now in, maybe thats the problem now, with the airflow, i dont know either what it is, as long as it dont screw up my mainbord, ore graphics card, i am not a big fan of overclocking either my cpu is realy cold on normal 20c bedrooms temps, my cpu gets not higher than 28c on iddle, on load my cpu get about 35c and not higher
Try with only 1 card , and see the temps ;o , SLI raise the temps , but I think not that high. EDIT:Control the fan speed ;p , my card in auto reach 85+ , but manual only 70-73.
You need better ventilation man like grab a case that has spots for like 6 or 7 120mm case fans like the CM 690 II case or NZXT Beta EVO case.

Hmm if these where stock fan solution cards I would say it was perfectly normal but since it is the custom fan dual 80 mm gigabyte card I'm abit surprised. I'm guessing your running fans on auto, and perhaps lacking abit in the airflow, a side fan when running SLI brings temps down like 5-6 degrees from my experience with 8800 GTXs. At stock it does sound quite high, but then again the reviews on the net don't necessary reflect temps and sound levels accurate since every system is diffrent and ambient temps, dust, etc etc can alter the result. Seems you have to try out running them forced 100% and see what kind of temps and noise that gives you /edit Another member of the forum with the same cards as you OCed to 880 on core and he claims load temps of around 65, full load. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=326827&page=3 Not sure if he runs fans on auto or forced though.
it was an driver isue, instaled the latest from nvidia no beta problem solved temps idle are 45 and 46, under load not higher than 70c! here,s mine 3dmark vantage score on P
i have the 1GB superclocked version from EVGA, and have around the same temps, my friend next door has the 768mb versions in sli and have way lower temps. the 1GB version seem to run hotter, but looks like its somewhat normal, atleast when having fans on auto. When running the card at 100% with OC Scanner its jumps to 90c on automatic fan speed.
