Holy crap that's some nice 2-way SLI scaling!

Nice scaling shame about 3 way crossfire problem.

Yeah, intense scaling. 2 card sli is the sweet spot it seems. Just Cause 2 @ 8aa, 1920x1200 = 94fps, wow. Metro 2033 has also been pwned by these cards.

SLI has allways scaled pretty well, 470's overclocked would reach near 480 performance so that would be nice in SLI, noise is pretty bad but i suppose it dont matter when your playing games with the volume up anyway.

Why don't they use some more powerfull setup for 2- or 3-way SLI or CF and CFx, so we could se how GPUs really scale whitout CPU bootleneck?? Dual socket mobo with two 1366 sockets is not unreachable for Guru3D, even using oc'ed i7 980X would be usefull. When it comes to extreme setups I allways fell like it's somehow possible to get more FPS.

    Anyhow, fantastic performance.

    One question for Guru's.

If I had enough money to buy two GTX470 and to get them in SLI (I have 3 PCIex16x, 2x16x+1x8x), what is your opinion about eventual results with my dual Xeon setup and quad channel RAM? my Xeon's are not that fast, only 2.66GHz, but they have 12MB cache each. I'm very interested about it, would it be better or worse than Guru3D setup with one i7 965 in matter of CPU bootleneck and FPS?

Surely, i'll never be able to buy not even one 470, but anyhow, i'm curious :)

He said in the review he used the same cpu due to being comparable with the other gpu's, using different cpu's in different gpu test's would give comparbale results.

Looks like 480 2x SLI is better than 470 3x though. Cheaper and less power consumption with similar performance. One thing that Nvidia does do rather well is scaling on multi-GPU setups and that is to be commended.

As always, Team Green takes the lead while Team Red is more affordable.

After we saw what the 480s did in SLI, these results with the 470s are no surprise. Excellent results.

Yeah, i know, but it would be nice to add some extra test with more powerfull CPU, just to see if there would be any differences. I mean something like Bodar's setup with dual Xeon.

I was going to say that, you beat me to it :)
2 GTX480 seem to be the sweet spot at the moment, without getting CPU bottlenecks and leaving slots open for a dedicated soundcard and/or PhysX card

nice.. now looking forward to get myself 2 470s but waiting for more custom cooling designs. the galaxy kfa2 is the best so far with custom and improved cooling and increased overclockability.
