    Well, their "fault" for not waiting. I wouldn't really say fault though since they still got awesome performance while there was nothing else out. Pretty safe upgrade for those who needed it, not sure about those who already had good cards (GTX580 etc).

    When I think about it, not really. At least we (680 owners) have a card that is not crippled, that couldn't pass the specs to become a 680. Looking at the availability of the 670, there were a lot of cards that didn't had what it takes to become a 680. I'm not critizing the GTX670 because it's a fantastic card for the price but in my country it costs EXACTLY 100 euros less than what I've paid for my 680 when I bought it at launch. Been happily gaming on it for the last (almost) 2 months and tbh, 100 euro is not that much money. It's not the end of the world.

    I admit, I felt cheated when I first read the reviews but thinking about it, you have to oc a 670 to match a 680 and some of you are forgetting that the 680 can be oc'd as well. Mine does 1.2+ghz core and 7ghz memory 100% stable baby!!!! No way a 670 can beat that lol :D

    I predict price cuts again for the 7970/50 amd more price cuts for. The 7870/50 when the 660 comes out

    Okay 670 installed and I just ran the same benchmark using the exact same settings and I scored 141fps not 112 Bjorn3d got. Not sure how they got such a low score tbh.

    In other news...the fan on my reference 670 is intolerable even at idle so the 580 is getting put back in! :(

    Need triple monitors.

    As usual that was another great review. I can't believe how close the GTX670 is to the 680. I can't wait to see how well the yet to be announced cheaper and lower end cards perform. They should tolerate some pretty high clock speeds since this architecture so power efficient, If Nvidia is generous enough with the specs on them AMD could have some real problems.

    For these three way SLI-CrossFire reviews you really need to include some triple monitor benchmarks. This is the only way to really judge how much benefit that can be had with these configurations. And it seems kind of pointless to include anything below 1920X1200. At least when benchmarking three high end cards. Anybody who buys three $400 or $500 dollar cards is going to be using some really high resolutions. $1200 worth of video cards hooked up to a 1280X1024 monitor is just not a very realistic configuration and never does any good. Also having three big monitors would also be a great way to test the specialty cards that have double the standard memory-Like the 4GB GTX680. On any of these reviews with even one $500 card I don't even look at the results on the lower resolutions, and I would guess most people are the same way.

    NVIDIA released the 670 so quickly because they are having yield issues with the 680 and are unable to keep up with supply and demand. They made a smart move considering the amount of failed 680 chips TSMC must have lying around. I wonder if NVIDIA only pays for the chips that make the grade like AMD. If so they probably bought these crippled 680's at a knockout price from TSMC. Make them into a very fast card that currently AMD cannot compete with in both price and performance and the 670 is born.

    Not sure about the can't compete comment. They are cracking but it's only a few FPS between all the top cards. In a smaller number of games and benchies AMD is top remember. Obviously I accept that Nvidia have the crown but those of us who took up 7970's know they overclock very well and FPS goes up tremendously as a result.:)

    sure amd can compete. but for a guy whom doesn't overclock at all 670 is a no brainer really :eek:

    not really Don Altobello :D

    well maybe 2x 670 is cheaper than a 690, but the 690 is a single card and imo more convinient, less heat inside the case, you don't need a 2nd pci express slot, don't need 4 power connectors, just 2, and don't forget the 690 is based on the 680 so 2x 1536 cuda cores (total 3072) instead of 1344 x2 (2688).

    the card even beats 3x 670 SLi

    finally the gtx690 is less power hungry than x2 gtx670

    690 = Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) 300w
    670 = Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) 170w (Sli 170w x2 = 340w)

    so less heat and less load on the psu (690 = 75c / 2x 670 = 78c).

    so as you can see theres a lot more to it that money as such its not a kick in the crotch and i absolutely love my gtx690. :p

    A 690 will dump more heat in the case than a pair of 670's I would have thought. Stock cooling on a 670 means all the heat is exhausted outside the case. A 690 pumps half in and half out. On price and performance I would take a pair of 670's, but that's me.

    i haven't noticed any temp difference inside the case compared to my previous gtx680, and the card itself is also cooler by a few degrees.

    as for the 670 pair, it really depends on what you need and how much you're willing to spend, you do get a lot of performance for the price, the 670 is no slouch that's for sure. :)

    There are other nice things about the 690 that people may forget about,personally I like this dual over an SLI wether 670s or 680s for other reasons than the performance. It's really a high quality gaming card. Motherboard thick PCB. 10 power PWM'S (5 per side), single PCIe slot space, lower power draw by far, lower temp, amazing magnesuim shroud, and vapor chamber cooling over heat sink fan.

    This for me is an amazing trade off:)

    True, it may be expensive but it's the best dual gpu card ever made. Look at the cooling on that thing, damn sexy card.

    Anyone know why there is such a big difference in these benchmark results between the 670 & 7950?

    Interesting.
    In NZ the 7950 costs $150 less than a 670, so the Hardware Secrets review made AMD look like a good deal...

    Bound to be slight differences between reviews due to hardware variations. Heres Anandtech which is closer to the guru review:
