As you have seen from the posts in this thread, these drivers are, in fact, working pretty well with the 8xxx series as well, but you have to download the drivers with the modded .inf file (links in this thread). Not only do they work well, but they show noticeable improvements over the old series of drivers.

Well, it's a shame on nVidia to let users of 8 an 7 series card owners (majority now i guess) officially use a driver set from December 19, 2007 (more, than 3 Months old!) - even if you look at the 'Beta and Archived Drivers' section, there are no sign on any newer drivers, whilst for 9 series card owners there is a March 18, 2008 WHQL-ed one (174.53) available.

It's even more shame, that these newer driver sets are 90+% compatible with the 8 and 7 series - even without official support. Thanks to the leak sources and people at forums (Guru3D Forum is a great asset!) we know about that and can use these newer, great drivers with modified .infs.

I'm actually on XP32 and run Crysis and DiRT on 174.40 since days without a single problem/graphical glitch.

Looking at this situation, i should agree, that nVidia support is a crap; they focus only on new cards and leave the older card owners (the majority) in the dust. I guess, they have not enough driver tester capacity to test these new drivers on all older cards and hammer out the slight glitches with those and issue a fresh, WHQL certified driver set for all card owners.

This is a shame, as their company in a good condition now; the should have enough money to hire testers if needed (even from here, Guru3D driver forums).

Back to topic: as 174.40 is good enough and slickric21 testing results shows there is not much difference in Crysis between 174.40 and 174.70, i stick to 174.40 for some time. Maybe nVidia will issue a decent WHQL for all card owners in late March.

great drivers, actually they are the best i have used so far.

i played crysis and now i can increase the resolution to 1920x1200, ok it still isnt exactly smooth but its playable on very high.

i used to run it at 1400x900 and essentially had the same framerate!.

    +1 nvidia!

i have virtually tried all nvidia drivers from 160.xx, except the most recent 174.70 the best drivers with no flickering in LOTRO is 171.16. smoothest performance, highest IQ and no bugs. give it a try.

anything else above it will cause flickering with AA enabled. so you still having flcikering problem with 174.70?

Nope these turned out to be the same crap as all 17x.xx versions (maybe 174.31 was kinda ok), in FEAR combat i got more slowdowns than usual, it was good at start but after a while it started to slow down abit, same happened with other games... so i'm now back to 169.21 whql again:infinity:... :3eyes:

Blu-Ray disk isn't even detected with these drivers ...
apparently purevideo is not yet included in this set.

    <update>:
Blu Ray IS working with these 174.70 drivers (tested in WinP-32) !!
After installing patch 3730a PowerDVD recognises BD disks again and seems to work fine.

    How do you know that?

    Q?
What does it mean when you say "its ok to use a leaked driver but you have to modify the .inf/.ini file?"

    Thnx PPL
