I get this problem when trying to uninstall the intel driver from my machine.

"Deleting the specified driver package from the machine failed because it is in use by a device."

and when I restart and install the driver again I get a black screen and all my displays lose connection. If I go in safe mode and disable the intel driver it will work fine. As soon as I enable the driver in windows it will lose connection to monitors and system will become unresponsive.

    here is the log:

    Scanning for new device...
    Clean uninstall completed!

The device is the Intel HD Graphics 4000 on my intel i5 3570k. I was using it just fine alongside my 560 ti for my second monitor so it wouldn't put my card in a high p state.

Edit: it looks like those things that were unable to be installed are system components that I need. It says they are USB, Net, System, and HDC. Maybe I should also reinstall chipset drivers?

Yes you are right and the error message you saw is to be expected. because they are system components and its normal for not removing its driver store.
Looking at your log, shouldnt you uninstall the nVidia driver too?
Are you connecting the DVI/HDMI cable to the nvidia GPU or directly on the motherboard on the Intel one?

Also you motherboard support something called " LUCID LOGIC VIRTU" or something along this. Remove his before messing with driver.

Also looking at you log, there seem to be a bug with the pnplockdown cleanup on win7, ill check that up.

Also did you clean in safemode or normal mode?

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Preface: My Nvidia graphics card did die about a week ago but I did resurrect it by doing the solder reflow trick in an oven. Shortly after I got it working again I started to exhibit these problems. My graphics card seems to work fine now as before it would BSOD during a benchmark and now it has no problems.

I tried different combinations of uninstalling both drivers and then installing one and then the other.I currently have my main monitor connected via DVI to the Nvidia card and a secondary monitor connected via DVI to the motherboard intel.

I uninstalled virtu and that didn't help either. I did clean it in safe mode.

Interesting to note that when I have both drivers uninstalled windows will see the other driver in the device manager with a status of "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". In the BIOS if I set the primary graphics to iGPU then my secondary monitor works and the NVidia won't and displays the error code. If I set it to PCIE then it will display the same thing for the other card.

My system was working with both Nvidia and Intel drivers with how it is set up now before my Nvidia card died and I resurrected it. Would a dying graphics card cause this issue? I will try installing a spare card to see if I get the same behavior.

Personally I suspect your dying card. Also I don't think you can plug 2 monitor on 2 different get. (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I think only 1 get can handle he output or at the very least, one guy vendor.

I'm not sure which step that I did fixed it but I figured I would write it down for anybody else. You can keep your graphics card installed from the beginning. Start off with wiped drivers by using DDU in safe mode. Wipe NVidia/AMD and Intel.

First I found this post and followed the directions to do a complete re-flash of my motherboard's BIOS. The website was redesigned since then so I found the download link for the flash tool here

Then I Changed my BIOS settings to iGPU primary, multimonitor disabled and then booted windows and installed the drivers for my intel graphics 4000. reboot back into windows and set your resolution and confirm it works.

Next, reboot into BIOS and change settings to PCIE primary, keeping multimonitor disabled still. Boot into windows and install the Nvidia/AMD driver. reboot again and set your resolution and confirm it works.

Finally I installed virtu mvp, rebooted into BIOS and then enabled multimonitor. Boot into windows and enjoy running both discrete and integrated graphics.

Problems you have are not related to prior DDU driver removal procedure. Info you've provided about problem you're having is not enough for us to locate real source of the problem. Send us more details...

    First things first:
1). try that GTX 760 on some other "healthy" rig
2). try your rig with another powerful enough PSU, send us some more info about that PSU of yours (how many +12V rails and Amps on those rail/rails) or send us link to PSU's manufacturer site

Personally, any driver higher than 344.11 for me will not allow custom monitor modes/resolutions so I do not use them. My cheap, aging 1080p TV requires CVT-RB timings and the newer drivers will not do it. Others have complained about a lot of the bugs over on the Nvidia forums with the newer drivers as well. A lot of people will recommend my driver version and even the 340.52 version.
