Best Disk Manager to create new partion without losing data (using free space), not damage HDD architecture, as well Vista support.

Partition Magic never did me any harm! Not done any of that in a long while though! I prefer to just add another HDD! lol

Symantec has not kept it up to date for some reason. I would suggest using Paragon's software, it works on Vista and i haven't had any issues with it.

    Whatever...

Following your link, I find something that I am looking for :nerd: Can I use Partition Magic on Windows Server 2003? http://www.partition-tool.com/partition-magic/partition-magic-server-2003.htm
Well, seems that "easeus partition manager" is growing to be the partition magic alternative as it claims. I've tested it. It worked well. But...I have to pay to save the change... :biggun:

You can actually do some resizing (shrinking, expanding), formatting, deleting, creating, you can mark partition as active or change the drive letter in vista without the third party software.
Click on "My Computer" icon and choose "Manage" and then on the left side "Disc Management". It worked for me couple of times when I was shrinking a partition, though, it is limited.
    Try it.
    I`m using Vista Home Premium

    GParted is free.

You can create a boot CD (Live download option) and boot to it.
Always backup your data before manipulating partitions.

    Partition magic. (version 8 )

Altho it's old and claims to outdated it has always worked great for me. I even used it on linux and vista partitions without issue.

It does gives all kinds of strange errors and warnings about vista/linux partitions, but in the end after you ignore those errors it seems to all work fine.

Yes, to use it on Win Server you'll have to pay for it....but you'd have to pay for Partition Magic or Acronis Disk Director as well.

I find it hilarious that a discussion forum about computers find the word part-iti-ion to be bad ;)
(especially considering the avatar of response #4)
    Love it.

Anyway, I wanted to second the motion for Vista's own built-in disk management. I have shrunk and extended par****ons several timesz, even on the windows drive itself with no ill effects whatsoever.
