I had my eye on the samsung 2232BW monitor. You guys know anything thats better? Im going to be mainly gaming and Make sure the monitor is black ;D

LOL Purchasing a gaming lcd? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When purchasing a monitor most folks just look at the specs and purchase but because of the many variations in brands and models and the continual experimentation and proprietary additions this is not advisable. The TN style panel (behind your monitor screen)is the cheapest at the moment. There are more expensive technologies (PVA etc.). http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ The object (to me) is to spend the least amount for the best while this technology is perfected! We as gamers are looking for the best pixel response time but I discovered there are some 2ms monitors that actually have more input lag than advertised 5ms monitors. The added features can also cause motion blur in fast paced games making a 2ms perform like a 5ms monitor! You see ,this is why your research before purchase is essential. These companies are doing so much experimentation that you can find a monitor with all the specs you want and yet they may have added a new proprietary "color gamut" that actually causes more motion blur and input lag! In one article I read ,a Samsung spokesman said the normal user doesn't need to know all the specifics! The Samsung 226BW is considered a great gaming monitor. Unfortunately Samsung used five different stlye panels in that model and the non Samsung panels were inferior. Of course Samsung sent the good monitors for review. Now fortunately good reviewers are starting to review each version. http://www.digitalversus.com/article-358-2683-36.html What Samsung has done is release the 226CW with a guaranteed Samsung panel inside but also added the new color gamut which causes the motion blur and input lag that we gamers don't want. Another thing I read is that the 24 inch monitors aren't perfected enough to display non native resolution games without the lag although the 22 inch monitors can for now but again it depends which one you choose. I'm using the HP w2207. It's a little more expensive ($339.99 @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176091&Tpk=W2207H) and only has a 5ms response time but it is the best monitor I've owned so far. No problems with games or watching videos so far. Besides that, it's biggest plus, I think, is the stand.
Curt again! Thanks man! I haven't looked at the links yet as i don't have enough time atm, but i will. And yes i have done some research on that samsung but ill do even more! I heard it was a great 22". I think i heard somewhere that its the best out so far. Well i mean they have the newer T22 i think but its got a burgundy color which i don't like.

Locally I picked up a LG-W2252TQ at Best Buy for $319.00 Then when I found out this Samsung had higher advertised static contrast ratio I purchased a Samsung 2232BW from Best Buy for $329.00. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=240082 This was the first review I saw at Best Buy so I purchased this instead of the Samsung226CW(guranteed Samsung panel but with new added color gamut that adds unwanted motion blur!). It seems demand is so much for these panels that Samsung now admits to outsourcing panels so there is a difference in panels in this version too and a difference in performance in tests! http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=6 Unfortunately when I got home I discovered mine had the non Samsung panel . I was able to get the Samsung color calibrated so that the non Samsung panel inside wasn't a prob but this input lag from the added color gamut in the Samsung is important since we are FPS gamers! The only drawback to my LG is the 700:1 static contrast but I booted these two monitors up in horizantal span mode (one virtual monitor displayed on both screens and played ArmA (night scenes) ,COD4 (night scenes) and Swat 4 and I saw everything just as well on the LG even though it has less advertised static contrast ratio than the Samsung! The Samsung was returned (full refund)and I discovered the LG that I bought the week before at Best Buy was on sale. They price matched 54 dollars back to me making my final cost 269.00 for the LG Flatron W2252TQ which I kept.
I was looking at the Dell 2007WFP. It looks to be the best monitor on the link that test out the monitors. But its only a 20". anyone had this monitor? Or Should i get a 24" ;D.
ive been doing some research too on a new 22 inch. i think im gonna have to go with the samsung t-220. i agree with you on the burgundy color, too bad it isnt piano black all the way.
If you like older games I read something about 24 inch monitors not being able to display non native resolution games or games without the native resolution option (in game settings), without noticable lag. I'm not an expert but I did read this in my studies and the article offered proof of this saying the better 22 inch models did this better than any 24 inch models. Something to consider and research more. If you'll notice in the comparison links above The 5ms HP and 2ms LG did better in in that test than the 2ms Samsungs.
Yea, i think i might stick with a 22"... But then again... Arg. Well i don't think ill be playing very many older games. The oldest game i might play is HL2. But performance is what gets me. I need to order a monitor this week and i should be able to play any game on high, even on the 24". (9600GT SLI). The only game i might have to turn some settings fr would be crysis. But COD4 and others seam to be all right. (Especially after your used to TF2 with everything low and 12-20FPS ;D) And with the 24" I get a higher rez. Arg, so confused. Which one would i get a better quality picture with?

Lol, i looked at that monitor. I wanted it but its silver. That would bug the CRAP out of me. So any more suggestions. Any suggestions on a 24" for around the same price. 80$ over 321 is about all i can afford though.

Actually, I think the one i picked off of newegg might be better. Seams that with the thinnest 24" LCD you don't get as good as picture quality and stuff. (If someone could prove me wrong, go ahead. I don't know much about monitors.)
