So it will cost roughly 5-10$ less than the i5-7500, if they put that precise model again with skylake pricing (which I see no reason why they shouldn't). Then it would be a rather pointless product if it's in the price range of the i5, even though it will have an unlocked multiplier and 4 threads. The additional price you will have to pay for a Z motherboard and an aftermarket cooler will make it an even worse buy, going for a H motherboard with a locked i5 with stock cooling will be cheaper and perform probably as well if not better.

Can't say I understand its position in the market with a price like that.

$180 seems to be a little high in my opinion.130-140.

I know Intel is dumb with pricing, but I honestly don't think they're dumb enough to have something so much worse for such a minor price decrease.

This, to my knowledge, is the first overclockable Intel dual core since Core2. To my recollection, many world record overclocks involved dual cores, even when 4+ core options were available. It's possible to get an i7 to reach 5GHz without liquid cooling. Imagine how much higher an i3 could possibly get.

This seems like an awesome product, but at a price like that...Don't think so.

Zen 8 core will apparently be £300 or so, let's see how that changes things...

nope there was the Pentium G3258 in 1150 and it was really fun and get very high in freq on air cooling...
but yeah it was an inexpensive CPU too (60Euro).

it better reach 6ghz+ on air for that price

heh maybe they think its 2008, I remember my E8400 costing around 180$ too

Hilbert...there is a few spelling mistakes in your thread

1--For a few days now there is "world"-- must be word
2--The specific overclockable Core i3 model will be the Core i3-7350K (2C/2T). The Intel Core i3-7350K would run with a maximum boost frequency of 4.2GHz out of the box. This unlocked multiplier 'K' chip will be a dual-core part with four threads (2C/4T). --so now there is 2 K models according to what you wrote?
    3--It has a L3 cache of 4MBand 91W TDP..no idea what this is
4--which builds upon 14nm FinFET process technology that shrinks processor components down to "an" small size --must be a
    5-- which "kcoked" ass--kicked

Please don't correct Hilbert's spelling - it's part of the character of his site! We all know what he means 99% of the time!

No one reviews products (especially gfx cards) with as much passion as this guy, and his English-as-a-second-language adds to the charm man.

I gave up on ever expecting Intel to release an unlocked i3 and bought a 6320 for my HTPC.

I hope Intel does release it unlocked, then maybe I can pick one up cheap in a couple of years to play around with.

    Plus the i3-530 could overclock.

Getting a dual core these days seems a bit weird.

IF this CPU can OC to 6+ GHZ, it could be an incredible game machine for the masses. Seriously many game engines are more IPC and GHZ inhibited / bound than thread or core count supported.

could OC but not intended to... all the CPU of this gen where still able to be tweaked for OC.

the G3258 is made for OC it is unlocked as I5/7 k series

depend what it can do by cycle, the frequency is nothing without that

always remember that the 1st core2 at 2Ghz in aircooling where way more powerfull than the pentium at 3.7 under watercooling...
