Well, hopefully it'll come to PC along with Xbox, just like the end of the trailer insinuates. Having a console exclusive STALKER would piss me off immeasurably...
First, this "It’s Your Story" i don't like. Usually this means that the story will be short, superficial, full of holes, etc. Like Skyrim for example. Second, this focus on consoles also i don't like. FPS games that are primarily made for consoles are crap - aka the gameplay which is designed for the gamepad.
I am a bit uneasy about this as well. The first STALKERS weren't about "the player", so to speak. They were about Strelok, Scar and Degtyarev. The fact that it's also on consoles doesn't surprise me (at this day and age), but it could potentially lead to the game feeling dumbed down... Hopefully they'll pleasantly surprise us.
About this video; it's not in game footage. So don't expect this lighting and graphics. This will probably be UE5 game, which means a lot of things will be different.
I'm not going to get excited about this until we see gameplay and discussion about a-life, etc. I'm sure it will look pretty but that means less and less to me as time goes on.
I'm just hoping with the whole Xbox stuff it's not a UWP platform game. That would seriously harm the modding community tbh, which is a big portion of this franchise's (albeit niche) success.
i loved the environment it looked like the same artist did it. It's got that detail like the original. It's gonna kick but for sure. Coming from someone who played STALKER for years i'm completely happy.
I never played the original S.T.A..L.K.E.R, but it looks very similar to tone and atmosphere to the Metro series.
STALKER ( too lazy to put dots ) is less linear than Metro. it's not a fully developed open world game, but it gives you some freedom and elements that open world games use. SoC was the best in my eyes, but it was also the most linear out of the three. Clear Sky was amaaaaazing in some parts, and its more open than SoC. CoP was the most polished and open in terms of freedom, but i liked the first two better. STALKER is not similiar to Metro in my eyes, if anything i find it much more close to the Half-Life series in its atmosphere. but i do believe a lot of people find Metro and STALKER similiar so ;/ yeah. both great, yet different series.
One thing I need to give STALKER credit for is drawing attention to Chernobyl. Before STALKER, most people I knew online barely knew anything at all about Chernobyl. Now tons of you can probably give me a fairly detailed summary on what happened there. It's spawned all kinds of other media, too.
Ever since crysis 2 came in 2011, consolitis started, Don t expect it to end anytime soon, dumbed down stalker 2 coming up unfortunately, hopefully they do surprise us...
